The space

Fancy retracing the steps of the Pilgrims on their way to Canterbury, losing yourself in our local countryside, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty?

Get away from it all and stay in a brand new detached log cabin.

We are pleased to offer self-catering accommodation in a newly erected log cabin, built in the grounds of our 16th century home, with views of The North Downs here in Thurnham, Kent.

The Cabin (23ft by 10ft) has been decorated and fitted out with a contemporary look and offers full heating throughout. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed, with an en-suite shower room. We provide toiletries, hairdryer, and a couple of towelling robes with matching slippers, just so you’ll feel pampered! And if you need it, there is a futon in the living room that can be converted into an extra bed.

After a day spent enjoying the outdoors, you might want to relax in front of the television or just enjoy the flicker of the flames created by our instant-heat electric fire. If you want to prepare your own meals, there’s an oven, microwave and hobs. We’ll even arrange for a food delivery if that’s what you want and store it in the refrigerator ready for your arrival.

Weather permitting, you will be able to sit out on your own private veranda that overlooks the North Downs and dine alfresco. You’ll find a barbecue in the shed we have provided, which can also house any bikes you might decide to bring.

We can advise you on local walks and cycle routes, even those including our wonderful local pubs! This area is steeped in history so you might perhaps choose to visit nearby Leeds Castle and find out why Henry VIII stayed there. The shops are a short drive away.

If you are looking for a tranquil, rural retreat, set at the end of a bridleway and surrounded by fields, why not use The Cabin as a base? Whatever your individual requirements – whether it be walking, biking or a romantic break - we will ensure a tailored approach to your stay, in a clean and well-maintained environment.

We had a wonderful weekend's stay here in September. The hosts were very welcoming and the cabin was absolutely lovely with everything we needed, plus some nice little touches to make it feel homely. The setting is perfect with gorgeous views overlooking the north downs and the hot tub is the icing on the cake. Lots of lovely walks and pubs to try out in the area. For us, it made the ideal weekend getaway and we hope to visit again soon.

Julie was a wonderful host, we were late checking in due to traffic and she was patient and understanding. The lodge was lovely, very well kept and homely. It's such a beautiful area and we had a wonderful stay.

The perfect place for a romantic break, or to get away to relax with friends. The Cabin is gorgeous and Julie has thought of everything to make they your stay perfect! We went on one of the walks into Bearsted village that Julie recommends and had lunch in The Oak which was another great recommendation! Other than that we just relaxed in the sun, taking in the amazing views and sat in the hot tub, which was the icing on the cake . Highly recommend and will 100% be having another weekend in The Cabin in the future!

This is a beautiful little wood cabin in a secluded little spot. It's beautifully done with everything you might need. Even a BBQ in a little shed outside! The sheets and towels are hotel quality and Julie even provides little bottles of shampoos etc! Julie also provided milk in the fridge and some treats too, it really was lovely and surpassed expectations. The hot tub is really the cherry on the cake though. (And Julie provides beautiful spa robes & slippers too!)... it's just such a lovely treat to enjoy a 40c hot tub with the bubbles on. It happened to be cold and blustery when we stayed in May (it really was cold)... but once you're in the hot tub you can sit and watch the wind whistle past you ans watch the weather over the hills but you can't feel anything but the lovely warm water! Superb. Couldn't recommend this little gem of a cabin for a couple's stay anymore.
