The Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake has been in my family 1926. A great work & play space. A Sleep Number Bed or an incline bed w/a great lake view. Therapeutic saltwater hot tub, OPEN 24/7/365. Create a meal for 2 or BBQ with friends. Explore the lakes in kayaks, pedal boat or paddle board. We're 5 miles from DTE Music, Great Lakes Crossing, Clarkston, Pine Knob Ski Resort. Close by are Somerset Mall, M1 Concourse, Pontiac, Rochester & Chrysler TC & Tier-1 suppliers. A 55 mins drive to DETROIT.

The space
l've "lived" the people business all my life, thus I knew exactly what the Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake must provide. First it had to be clean. Like really clean. 2nd, there would be options. Because it doesn't matter how good a cup of tea is, if you don't drink tea, well... 3rd. It had to be as nice as home or better, new luxury sheets and lots of towels. 4th. It had to offer and be easy to find, all those "things" you forget or suddenly must have. And last but not at all least, it must be inspiring. The view of the lake, will generate a desire to go exploring, Kayaks or pedal boat. The sound of the turning water from the high power jets in the Therapeutic, Saltwater HOT TUB calls for a refreshing soak. The incline beds are sure to be the coziest, fall asleep while being mesmerized by the water, spot ever!
Welcome to the Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake. My families 1926 "little house" redesigned using up-cycling and enhanced in every way for your comfort.
Enjoy, relax, be inspired.

Guest access
When you stay at The Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake, you're home, whether you chose us for work or play, everything inside the house is there for your enjoyment. From robes, books, coffee and teas, fishing poles and roasting sticks, pedal boats, kayaks or the paddle board. Housekeeping is on us. Leave the dishes, laundry and bed making, 'cause at the Guesthouse on Schoolhouse Lake, HOUSEKEEPING is ON THE HOUSE!!

Other things to note
Although there's a 2 night minimum stay, one night can be arranged for an additional $63.00 any Sunday thru Saturday.

When it's time for you to leave the Guesthouse, remember that housekeeping is included and cleaning up isn't necessary. Although the house is equipped with everything you might need to clean, please leave the bedding, towels and dishes to housekeeping. Simply enjoy every minute of your stay.
The Guesthouse is a one level home yet there are at least two steps to enter and there are four steps inside that lead you down to the laundry area.
The house is located on a major thoroughfare with a 6 foot fence that has bushes and trees alongside it. The fence sits between the road and the house. We usually find the road noise much quieter inside the house but yes, road noise DOES exist.
The spring fed lake is 4.5 feet deep at the end of the dock so NO Diving. You can walk a ways before it's over 5 foot. Yet the center of the lake is 60 feet. Unfortunately, little zebra muscles have attached themselves to some rocks in the lake and can give you tiny cuts, water shoes are recommended. Please bring your own proper fitting life jackets but if you forget we have a boatload.

Location

Waterford Township, Michigan, United States

The area provides a multitude of restaurants. Whether it's the best hand tossed Pizza, a one of a kind Coney Dog or a Japanese steakhouse, authentic Mexican or fine dining just ask for my list of places. Half day trips to day trips Meadowbrook Hall, scince museum or World renowned The Henry Ford & Greenfield Village in Dearborn, all a sure win for everyone in any season! Lake living is not just for warm weather. Winter, spring and fall seasons are full of adventure on the water and ice. Both Pontiac Lake State Park located in Waterford, and Independence Oaks are great parks for big groups or a casual walk, cross country skiing & snow shoeing. (I.O.C.P., has rentals available on some Saturdays). Callahan's House of Blues is always rockin' with great Detroit, Chicago, New York Blues on selected Thurs, Fri, Sat.
Endless Shopping is an understatement! Great Lakes Crossing, Somerset, Birch Run & Downtown Birmingham guarantee a full day's experience of amazing finds and bargains. And then there's golfing, fishing, hiking, alpine skiing or snowboarding. Looking for something else? Just ask.

Hi, I'm Lori Johns Boufford. My Great-grandfather brought his father-in-law's homestead log cabin(~1865) some 19 miles to this property in 1913, simply to use the log house as a fishing cabin. Six generations later, and two additional houses on site, our family still wonders at the surrounding wildlife and is taken back by the beauty of lake living. My husband Rick and our two boys, now adults have savored living on the waters edge since 1985. It's our pleasure to share this experience, even for a couple of days with the Airbnb community. We will do our absolute best to insure you leave with heartfelt memories of your visit to the Guesthouse On Schoolhouse Lake.

During your stay
The Guesthouse on Schoolhouse is a separate home, some 100 feet from our family home. You'll have a private entry code which allows you to come and go as you please. Look at the Guesthouse as your private residence during your stay. My husband, Rick and I enjoy sh hiaring stories and welcome your company or if you find you require info with the boats, we're close by. Yet, know that we will not visit unannounced.
