Beautiful gite / retreat located at 800m in a barn renovated with ecological materials. The cottage is nestled between meadows and woods with a breathtaking view of the border mountains. Access only on foot to safeguard the tranquility. Autumn will soon be here and it is the best time to visit the Couserans. Lower temperatures, clear skies, beautiful colors in the foliage and mushrooms still to be picked up in the nearby woods.

The view from the house is wonderful, looking at the grassland with the sheeps and the mountains. Within half An hour you can drive to various locations for beautiful walks in the mountains, charmant little villages, swimming pool St Girons etc. Lee and his wife Suzy are very friendly and helped us out in providing eggs and vegetables from their garden.

A lovely cottage away from civilisation. No wifi but it was good to switch off for a couple of days. Comfortable bed. Very quiet and peaceful. You will need a car. An hour drive from mountain hiking routes, although there are local low elevation walks near by. Maps and hiking guide-books were available at the place, which was great. The hosts live 2 min away - no issues whatsoever. There are animals living on the plot. Nearest shop is at least half an hour drive, so best to do your shopping on the way in. Highly recommended, would stay there again.

Response from Lee:
St Girons is half an hour's drive away, but there are shops and supermarkets in Oust and Seix 20 minutes away at the most. Walks to the frontier mountains are also reachable in a little over 30 minutes but it depends which mountain you wish to climb and how fast you drive! We would have been happy to recommend more accessible routes, maybe we can show you next time! We have free range chickens at our house and 6 sheep in a field 100yds from the gite.

A gem in a fabulous location. Peaceful, amazing views of mountains, walks from the door, a beautifully designed and refurbished pyrenean barn, all the mod cons but lots of charm too. We will be back. Just in case, yes it is up a windy lane 25mins from the nearest shop and the wifi is a bit iffy so dont bring demanding teenagers. Just come on your own and leave the laptop at home!

We have spend 10 days in the house with our small children, and it is just gorgeous time! The place is very green, very quite, and just perfect for everybody who are looking for peace and conection with nature. Beautoful view and songs of birds, no noise, no cars, no any contamintaion. A lot of space and full mountain to have nice and easy walks with small children. Lee and Suisy were very perfect hosts! Always ready to help and advise, their house is in 100 metrs out of the Gite that they rent, so any problem is fixed in the moment. And very respectful for privacy and the rest of guests. Thank you very much and highly recommended!

It is hard to describe what a perfect place Lee’s house is. I went there with a friend to spend a weekend in the country, and I found myself discovering one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I had ever set foot in. The lodge is comfortable, clean, well decorated and it has an amazing view over the Pyrenees. The owners are kind and caring, and Lee even took the time to draw us a map for a great for hours hike on the mountains – were we discover more of this beautiful region. We will come back as soon as possible!
