Beautiful home on the Gulf of the St. Lawrence. A well appointed and large home where every view is mountains or ocean, or both. The home is well appointed with beautiful décor, large open areas, super clean and with all the amenities needed to fell like you are in your own home. This place was definitely the highlight of our East Coast trip!

• We really enjoyed our stay at My Grandfather’s House by the Sea. • The home was spacious, clean and well furnished. • Big furnished kitchen, living and dining rooms, with great views. • Three spacious bathrooms, clean towels, and soaps. • Deck with great view and Barbaque. • Location has great views of mountains and the sea. • Adjacent to the Cabot trail. • Short ride to beaches and Cheticamp. • Whole family enjoyed the stay. • Bruno was great to help with little requests. • Thank you Clive. • We highly recommend this great property.

This is gorgeous and spacious home. The location is hard to beat. Close to the National Park, a quick drive to amenities and other small towns. The kitchen is fully equipped and there was 3 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms. Plenty of extra clean linens, a bbq and a deck with an outstanding view. Great host too. Quick to communicate and very courteous. I highly recommend this spot. My only recommendation is that you take the Old Cabot trail when you drive there, not the new road as the driveway is quite steep and it's far easier to access from the lower road.

A beautiful home in picturesque location. Can see the sea, take walks nearby, enjoy nature. Clive has great taste in decoration and each bedroom has its own character. House is well stocked with almost everything you need, except food, to make your stay memorable.

Clive's home was spacious, clean and tastefully done. He was extremely helpful. The cottage is located on a hill with easy access to the beach. It is a complete family home, he had an antique wood carved high chair for a baby too. It was perfect. Although, one would need a car to get to the closest Co- op grocery store.

I am a grandfather and writer of prose and poetry. Some of my books are 'My Grandfather's Cape Breton', 'Notes from Exile: On Being Acadian' and "Looking for Henry.' The village of Grand Etang is where my father was born and I spent summers with my Acadian grandfather. I am comfortable communicating in English or French as are most people in the village. The house you are looking at is brand new and where I will be living for part of the year. It is a family home intended for large summer gatherings, safely and beautifully located off the Old Cabot Trail but within walking distance of the new Cabot Trail, the harbour and the village. You can swim in the harbour as we do or at the beach in Cheticamp. In front of the house is a trail which takes you down to the beach for beach combing walks. Every window has a beautiful view of the sea or the mountains. I plan on renting it for a couple of months each year to defray the expenses. In the basement storage, you can find a paddle board, a rowing skiff, life jackets and walking sticks. There is a village co-op store at the harbour about two kilometers away and a much larger store in Cheticamp about ten kilometers, north. You can find out more about me by googling Clive Doucet.
