I was too shocked to read this review on my listing page that it took me a while to decide what to do or how to respond to it until now...
I have been hosting guests and welcoming them into my homes in Japan and Bali for the last 11 years. This was probably the worst experience ever I have had as a host. I was not in Bali when she came to stay at my villa and only she and her local Indonesian friend were present in the house at the time of incident, so I can only assume what had happened from the evidences. I must say I have learnt my lesson in a hard way that I should not rent rooms to people when I am not present in Bali, even if they insist on it.
The facts and evidences tell me the following;
1. A long term guest's USD3000 bicycle disappeared after she checked in. He has been living at the villa for over 1 year and was traveling out of Bali at the time of the incident.
2. Both my gardener and housekeeper have been working for me for a number of years and are both very honest/trustworthy people with a house and family. It is nearly impossible to think that they will break into the house that they work at everyday, don't steal anything from this guest, but steal another guest's bike which has been there for months.
3. This guest didn't leave the villa as I asked her after she texted me in Japan about the theft, but instead, she brought her local friend into the villa that night.
4. For the last 11 years of running a number of guest houses, this kind of thing had never happened to me and all reviews about my properties show that very clearly.
