We were looking for an opportunity to escape the city for the weekend, and this scenic location far exceeded our expectations! Our host, Joel, was extremely accommodating and friendly. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with the cutest welcome sign that set the tone for the rest of our trip. The place was fully appointed with all of the necessities (i.e. cooking utensils, bathroom toiletries, etc.). Our host also surprised us with wine for the evening we arrived, and delicious blueberry muffins, bagels, and fresh fruit for breakfast the following morning. From the outside, the building looks like a traditional red barn, but on the inside it has been restored to resemble a cozy log cabin. The cottage is extremely spacious, yet quaint and comfortable. There are two loft-style sleeping areas that overlook the great room, which has vaulted ceilings; it even has a wood burning stove! The cabin had the kind of ambiance that made us feel like we were vacationing in the Smokey Mountains.
The barn/cottage sits on 160 acres of rolling hills and woodlands, with a nearby man-made pond. During our stay, we were able to relax and take in the breathtaking views; it was a truly serene experience. We had the opportunity to hike, and we also took time to visit some nearby attractions like the local wineries. While we were certainly enamored with the beautiful accommodations, we were most impressed by our host Joel. He went above and beyond to make sure we had accurate directions to the location, he offered us mud boots to wear on a rainy day, and he even assisted us with building a bonfire for some evening entertainment. It is the little things that make the difference between good and great, and we can whole-heartedly say that this was one of the BEST Airbnb experiences we’ve had to date! When we return (which we will), we plan to bring friends with us to share in this lovely gem :-)
