About this listing

Sophie's cabin is tucked away in the gated Riverbend Community and is a very quiet retreat most suitable for a couple looking to unplug from the hustle and bustle. It is both spacious and cozy with a private bedroom, a full bathroom, a full kitchen, and a comfortable living room to watch a movie, read, or play games. The large secluded deck behind the cabin has a table and chairs and chaise lounges facing the woods to hang out and listen to the wind and the birds. You may even see a deer or two.

The space

The bedroom has a high quality queen size mattress with linens, blankets, and a variety of pillows provided. The full bathroom has a full sized tub/shower. Towels, body wash, and shampoo are provided. The kitchen has a full size fridge, chef's gas range, microwave, and toaster oven. Pots and pans/dishes/ bake ware/glassware/cutlery and lots of kitchen tools are all provided. It is well stocked. We have a Kuerig coffee machine with several types of coffee to choose from... A variety of tea choices and sugar and sweetener are provided as well. We just added WIFI with a hot spot connection for moderate use (no streaming video please) as we have a limit on data from our provider... There is a gas burning "wood stove" in the living room for atmosphere and warmth. We just installed a state of the art mini-split AC/heat pump system with separate heads in the living room and bedroom with remote controls for each. There are ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom as well. I think you will find the cabin quite cozy and comfortable. We have worked hard to try and think of everything.

Guest access

You will have access to the whole cabin and deck. Access is also provided to the private lake and beach area nearby as well as the Broad River and it's private picnic area and walking trails... There is a large grocery store about 8 minutes away with a deli, gas station, pharmacy, and Redbox.

Interaction with guests

I live about 45 minutes from the cabin and am available by phone or text from 9AM-9PM or later for emergency contact if necessary...

Other things to note

Please drive slowly through the neighborhood's gravel roads as there are some relatively blind curves... and please use WIFI modestly as our data plan is limited. There is no reliable internet provider in our location so we must use a cell phone "hot spot".

My mom and I really enjoyed our stay at Sophie's Cabin! This was our first Airbnb experience, and David and Luciana made it a great one. Luciana met us at the cabin to show us around and answer any questions we had. The cabin is cute, cozy, and very well stocked from the kitchen to the bathroom to the bedroom. The kitchen has basic cooking staples like olive oil, salt, and pepper. I even found an emersion blender in the cabinet you can whip up some mayo if you're into that :). There's a grocery store in town about 10-15 minutes away if you feel like cooking, and a few restaurants if you don't. To sleep, my mom took the bed and I slept on the sofa bed in the living room. The pull-out sofa has a mattress topper and Luciana has plenty of sheets and blankets tucked in the closet that made it very comfortable. I ran/hiked down to the entrance to the community and across the street where there's a hiking trail, gazebos, picnic tables, and a little waterfall. Overall, it was a great little cabin and I'm glad all the hotels in the area were booked due to the eclipse lol. Otherwise, we never would have ended up in the mountains in such a peaceful, secluded location.

The cabin, area and host are all wonderful. David truly makes you feel at home in the cabin. He answered question about the area before we arrived and at check-in he met us at the cabin to show us around. There are lots of thoughtful touches throughout the cabin. We fell in love and can't wait to go back!!!

We loved our stay at Sophie's Cabin! Working with David, his wife, and staying at the cabin was a perfect first Airbnb experience! David communicated promptly and was very friendly. Answering all my questions before our trip and recommendations of where to grocery shop (with directions) and what we may need or not bring. Which wasn't a lot - they provided so much!! His wife, Luciana greeted us at the private entrance into the community, we followed her to the cabin and she gave us a tour. She was so very lovely, friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcome! The decor is comfy, tasteful and so relaxing! They have books to read on the private deck and DVDs to watch during the quiet evenings. The kitchen is stocked with plates, cookware, flatware, everything you need..just bring your food. If you don't feel like cooking Lake Lure is about 10 mins away and they have a few restaurants near the lake. Okay food and service, but amazing view. We had no problems with the hot water at the cabin, just be conscious of the size of the tank and the length of the shower. The bathroom had everything from bug spray to band aids in case you need it. The room darkening curtains allow you to sleep soundly and you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee peacekeeping outside in the morning. There are other houses in the area, but you are very secluded. David recommended where to hike on the Blue Ridge Mountains and even gave us mile markers of where exactly to hike. It truly was a breathtaking view and unforgettable experience we probably would have never done if David didn't recommend it. We also shopped in Chimney Rock, went to the WNC Nature Center, visited the Lake Lure visitor's center/flower bridge, visited Ashville, and swam in private beach at Riverbend (would totally recommend!!!!!!) The Hickory Ridge Gorge brewery in Chimney Rock was so nice and family friendly!! While in Asheville we experienced car trouble late in the evening and were stranded. Being from Pennsylvania, we were in need of a trustworthy mechanic. I texted David for advice. He immediately called me to see what was wrong and how he could help. He gave us the name of a mechanic and helped me start to arrange a car rental. Then he let us BORROW his truck!! There are no words to express how truly wonderful David and Luciana are. There goal was for us to have a fun, relaxing family vacation and when this car situation arose they were not going to allow it to damper our trip. They drove to Asheville at 9:30-10pm to bring us their truck to borrow, waited for the tow truck with us and then they drove us to the mechanic's garage! So very blessed our paths crossed with such such wonderful people. Overall, if you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a comfy cabin with amazing hosts, Sophie's Cabin is the...

David is a fantastic host - communication was prompt and jovial, the cabin itself was clean, tastefully decorated, and comfortable; our whole experience at Sophie's Cabin was nothing short of excellent. We were provided plenty of options for exploration of the local nature, culture, food, and drink, and David was happy to answer any further questions we had. The bottle of wine was a kind and much-appreciated detail. I can't recommend this location and these wonderful humans highly enough!

We had an amazing time at Sophie's cabin! We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the amenities in the cabin as well as in the Riverbend Community. We also truly appreciated and used the helpful book left for us in the cabin. It gave us great suggestions and tips for places to eat and visit! We were sad to see our time end and will highly recommend Sophie's cabin to our friends and family!

My fiance and I had an amazing stay at this beautifully secluded cabin. The scenery was amazing, no noise besides the nature around you. Within reasonable driving distance to anything you might need. We will be back and would recommend this to everyone who needs a break from the hustle and bustle of normal life.

We couldn't have asked for a better host. The cabin had everything we needed. We hit the grocery store and were able to make use of the well-equipped kitchen during our stay. There were a number of other thoughtful considerations that were a big help as well. The cabin is small of course, but very well set-up. The AC system works GREAT and we needed it with unusually warm, humid conditions outside. It was easy to relax and get comfortable in the cabin after a long hike. Thanks again!
