Malta is super good for camping! With our pop-up tent, sleep mats, blankets and pillows you can free-camp all around the coast!

The space

Malta is super good for camping! If you find yourself a spot in the shade you can free-camp all around the coast :)

Take our pop-up 2 person tent with you and make your holiday super cheap!

Feel free to take it over to Gozo island and camp up on the unpopulated Comino island - I'll even draw on a map and outline some good spots to wake up!

Things:

- The tent is a single layer with a mosquito net layer on the door
- I include two yoga mats to make lumpy ground more comfortable
- Also two blankets, but you might not need them in the summertime
- And lastly two small pillows for your little heads zzzz

^ all of these things fit in the big round tent bag ^

Other things:

Where can I pick up the tent?
We run a small shared backpacker house in Senglea, not so far from the airport. You can come here or I can even meet you on Valletta if it's easier.

When can I pick it up?
Anytime at all :)

Is it easy to pop up and put away?
Yes! But I'll show you how quickly before you set off.

Is the bag small and convenient?
Nope! It's big and round and annoying - but it's still better than playing with tent poles and flappy material all night.

Can I camp in Malta legally?
It depends on the place, but most of the time you'll be fine - and the worst that can happen is someone will ask you to pop-up somewhere else.
If you like peace-of-mind you can grab a permit online from Malta's tourism authorities and be on the safe side.

What about toilets and showers?
The sea is warm and the trees are trees - but most beaches have a public toilet or even a shower area nearby.

What about my big bags?
A lot of luggage to leave in a tent, it's not a problem, just leave it at my house in Senglea until you return from your camping trip.

And finally, there is a 50euro deposit so people don't run away with the tent, but I'll always give it back at the end of your stay :)

Safe travels and see you soon!

Clem's tent is super lightweight and easy to carry. Definitely worth renting because you have crazy views of the sunrises, sunsets, and stars while on the beach or anywhere you choose to set up for the night. It was so much fun to just be free to wander and not worry about having to get back to a hotel by a certain time because you could set up just about anywhere. Super great way to meet other travellers as well. Highly recommend and Clem gives really great advice and suggestions.

My decision to stay with Clem was very last minute as my previous accommodations fell through, but regardless Clem was very understanding, welcoming, and communicative. He even invited me to stay longer than I expected, once again because of my original plans changing so last minute. The house is absolutely amazing and one of a kind. It is a space of sharing and warmth and you are guaranteed to meet some great people. Clem is friendly and fun and right away invited me to have a beer and chat with him on the roof. I originally planned to sleep in the hammock, but because a bed was free and the nights were still quite chilly, I was able to use one of the beds and it was quite comfy with many blankets. If you do get a chance to use the hammock though, I definitely would. It would make such a unique experience. The location is great, with easy access to Valetta and buses to take you all around the island. Clem knows all the best places to visit and is brimming with recommendations for your stay. I had a lovely time staying here and definitely recommend it.

This place is a dream come true for every traveller. Few other places I've been so far have offered me such relaxed and positive vibe. If you are traveling alone by any chance, you won't feel lonely ... the house is always full of interesting people, interesting conversations and every day is a "like a box of chocolate - you never know what you are going to get" :) Also, the location is great, the boat to Valletta is basically in front of the house and it takes about 10 minutes to get you there and the house has everything you need and more. Clem is a great host, he'll make sure you know all what you need to get around and to make you comfortable in his home; he is extremely nice, fun, warm and easy to get along with. You will instantly feel at home :) Definitely worth staying here :D

Hi, I'm 27, Irish/English and very easy to get along with.

I spend my days in pursuit of freedom and sunny shores - I'm new to hosting here but had to share my place as it's in the best location in Malta and I have made it a fun but cheap place to stay. I love an adventure so please visit me and I will make sure you don't miss out :)

I write a lot and am finishing a book at the moment but travel is my passion; I spent a lot of my teens around Europe, and four of the last fix years in Asia.

I enjoy listening to people's travel tales, learning, having a good time and making sure everyone around me has a good time also. Airbnb is relatively new to me but I'm excited to meet some new faces.

I love my work, and photography. Living light and staying active. Muesli and red wine. Slackline and rock climbing. Fajitas and blue cheese (I know right!). Teaching and learning. Surfing and scuba. Cooking and movies. Fire poi and languages. the list goes on...

My 8tracks listening history has some deep house saxophone, a bit of Latin folk, Florence + the Machine and a lot of acoustic guitar. A bit of music around the place is a must, feel free to play what you're into (unless someone is sleeping) and join me for a beer on the roof.

Counties I've visited include; Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand - so maybe we will have some experiences in common. I grew up in Cornwall but have also lived in Thailand, Indonesia and now Malta.

So that's me, in plenty of detail I think - and now I look forward to meeting you!
