Finbarr and Eleanor have owned Springfield Farm since January 2014 establishing the 121 acres as a working family farm.

Springfield Farm offers an unique Yurt experience. This is a beautiful "tent" a "glamping" boutique experience WHICH ALSO includes a complimentary continental breakfast of homemade yoghurt, granola and seasonal fruit along with coffee/tea and often a scone or two! Included with your stay is 2 COMPLIMENTARY Disc Golf passes for 18 holes.

The space
Come "Glamping" for a night or two in the beautiful, unique Yurt in Apple Hill, Ontario. Stay in this spacious Mongolian-style, 100% Canadian made Yurt on a traditional family farm close to Cornwall, Akwesasne, Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and many other great spots for your road trip.

The Yurt is approximately 226 square feet, open concept with a ramp to the entrance door of the Yurt. For this reason furnishings are compact - the double bed is an antique one, the retro Danish Chair/cot is a pull-out and sheets are provided. Please note that this is not camping but it is also not a hotel room and as such we cannot accommodate larger groups in the Yurt nor can we reconfigure the beds for such a small space - we appreciate your understanding.

Very Important to note this Yurt is "OFF-GRID" which means that there is no electricity inside of the Yurt, we provide LED lights that are battery-powered and request that there is no smoking inside the Yurt or wax candles due to fire safety regulations.

You and your guests (maximum 3 persons) will be welcomed by hosts Finbarr McCarthy and Eleanor McGrath and we welcome you to enjoy the area surrounding the barns and sitting areas near the orchard, The farm is surrounded by nature and the Beaudette River runs through the property. Guests will be welcomed by the songs of birds, stillness of the night sky and free from the hustle and bustle of city life. A paradise to be experienced in a Yurt!

We have the only 18-hole Disc Golf course in the region - two complimentary guest passes are included for one round. Rental of discs/and further games can be booked for an additional fee. Please just ask about the course when you arrive.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the gardens which are awash with beautiful flowers all summer long. Inside a repurposed traditional wooden outhouse now houses a small mini-fridge, a microwave, the coffee maker and outlets for any recharging of technology. A briquette BBQ is available and small bistro set to enjoy eating outside. We suggest you take out the light chairs from inside the Yurt and enjoy the view from the deck. PLEASE NOTE IN THE FALL ONLY: Inside the Yurt there is a a small wood burning stove which can provide some heat and certainly lots of ambiance. There is an Cinderella toilet/outhouse - it is located down a path next to our baby barn for the traditional camping part of the experience (while not exactly close by) it is not a portapotty and more "glamping" experience. And we have an outdoor shower with a battery operated shower head - we provide water that can be adjusted to your preference. It's lovely for summer guests or warm fall season, when water stored in the sun - it is refreshing!

Other things to note
Springfield Farm is in the heartland of the first settlements of the province of Ontario. The Mohawk Nation of Akwesasne is located approximately 30 minutes drive south from the farm and situated on the beautiful St. Lawrence Seaway hosting the Akwesasne International Pow-Wow in September, along with shopping, restaurants and a fun Casino experience. Rural communities such as Apple Hill, Martintown, Alexandria offer the small town warmth, antiquing, great local cafes and architectural history. Annually in Maxville is the Highland Games and in Williamstown the annual fair which is the oldest in Canada! Come stay at the Yurt and disc golf, bike, hike or drive to explore the birthplace of Ontario.

Hosts, Finbarr McCarthy and M Eleanor McGrath are passionate about organic farming. Springfield Farm has been a family farm for over 200 years, with a traditional Loyalist stone home and large dairy barn on the property. In 2014, they purchased the farm so as to raise their family within a strong farming community and participate in the growing "field to table" movement. They have added the Yurt to their farm to share their passion for the farm and provide an opportunity for Eco-tourism, artist retreat and raise awareness of the beauty of Apple Hill and the surrounding Celtic heritage of Stormont Dundas Glengarry and the Mohawk Nation of Akwesasne.
