This cozy log cabin is perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway, families or larger groups. The chalet is nestled in its own private wilderness setting and is surrounded by an abundance of nature and wildlife.

The space

The Ma'ayan Chalet is spacious and can comfortably accommodate 2 to 12 people. There is a large bedroom on the main floor and an open concept loft that can be arranged to meet your family or group requirements. There is also an open concept kitchen, dining and living room area and a table that is large enough to seat a group of 12.

The chalet is completely self-sufficient, complete with two solar panels to provide basic electricity and there is a compost toilet inside.

The chalet is equipped with all the basic kitchen necessities - propane fridge, propane stove, and all the supplies needed for cooking, cleaning and serving.

The chalet is heated with a wood-stove and all the wood for heating is provided. The cabin will be warm and cozy upon arrival.

There is no running water in the cabin. However, we will provide large jugs of water from our natural spring for drinking, washing and cleaning.

Outdoors there is a large deck with a screened in gazebo and a large firepit area.

Guest access

Guests can experience a variety of outdoor activities for every season right from the door step.

In the winter months, guests can enjoy our extensive groomed trail system for cross-country skiing or explore our many designated trails for snowshoeing. For an adrenaline ride, guests can slide down our tubing runs or enjoy tobogganing on a groomed sliding hill. For a new adventure – guests are welcome to try out kicksledding. At the end of the day, guests can relax and unwind with a hot cup of cocoa by the fire or enjoy a hot sauna.

In the spring, summer and fall, there are plenty of trails for hiking or biking and infinite spaces for exploring. If you enjoy the water – guests can enjoy swimming, canoeing, stand-up paddling or floating in a tube on the beautiful and serene Bang’s Bay, an inlet off the Ottawa River. In the right season, there is an abundance of wild raspberries, blueberries and blackberries for picking. The autumn is spectacular with the ever-changing colours and incredible viewpoints overlooking the Laurentian Mountains.

The canoes, paddle boat, stand-up paddle boards and tubes are available free for our guests to use. Cross-country skis, snowshoes and kicksleds are available for rent.

Interaction with guests

We live on the same property. However, the Ma'ayan Chalet is set in its own private location.

We will be available to greet our guests and provide an orientation of the chalet. We will also be available for any assistance during your stay.

We are very personable and enjoy interacting with our guests. However, we like to leave it up to our guests to decide how much interaction they are interested in.

Other things to note

With regards to bedding - we typically provide the bottom sheets, pillows and pillow covers. Guests need to bring their own comforters/sleeping bags. If you are traveling and don't have any bedding - please let us know and we can arrange to provide complete bedding.

A wonderful place! The cabin accommodated our group of 12 with no problem. It's very secluded and private. Just make sure that you are aware that there is no running water. However the hosts provide enough in the jugs and more is available if needed. The cabin is a wonderful place to get away from the city and technology. It is still close enough to the town if you do anything (about 20 minutes away).

Jen and Tzach are happy hosts. They are very friendly and do their best to make the stay enjoyable. The Chalet is a wonderful place for a big group and its location makes the whole experience serene and peaceful. Everything that one reads in the listing description about the place and the people is so true and I fell in love with the place instantly. We tried winter activities like tubing, skiing and snow- shoeing and each of these was very exciting. The best part about the place is the night sky, the number of stars one can see in overwhelming and the background sound of nature there makes it a beautiful experience.

We absolutely loved this place! The cabin was everything we hoped it would be and Jennifer and Soch were super hosts, always making sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was warm and very comfortable for our family of four and was certainly spacious enough for a bigger group. There were lots of board games to play in the evenings and puzzles too. We really enjoyed the well-marked winter trails that cover the property and spent many hours snow shoeing through beautiful countryside. The sauna was also fantastic! Thank you, thank you, thank you - we will never forget our stay here! Michelle and Sul

We had an excellent time here! The space and seclusion was just what we wanted and very clean. We had all the water and fire wood we needed. Our hosts were easy to communicate with, attentive, helpful and gave us lots of privacy. A huge highlight was the private wood stove sauna that we had fired up just for us and the walking trails were very nice as well. We would definitely come back.

Jennifer User ProfileJennifer is a superhost.

Jen & Tzach Elnekave are the owners and hosts of Nature’s Harmony and we are the proud parents of three young children, Ella, Maya and Ethan.

Tzach is originally from Israel and Jen is a native Canadian. In 2002, we both left our home countries as independent travelers to tour the world for a year. But, fate had our paths cross on foreign sands. We met in a small seaside village in Cambodia and shared an immediate connection. This led to a long process of good byes, not knowing whether we would meet again, and the shuffling of travel plans to re-unite.

At the end of our travels, we both spent time together in each of our home countries. Despite the obstacles of independence, distance, cultures and religions – we crossed every hurdle and we were married in Israel on April 28th, 2006.

For both of us, the entire travel experience was a life changing one. We first left our home countries with nothing more than a backpack and an open mind. As individuals, we allowed the experience to guide us – with no restrictions and no time constraints. We experienced different cultures, religions, foods and learned about the history of each country. In these lesser developed countries, we often sensed an inner peace that we rarely encounter back home. The experience taught us both to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life.

This travel journey will always remain one of the greatest memories of our lives. But, what followed were some of the most challenging years to come. The experience changed us more than we would have ever imagined. We now wanted so much more out of life. We felt a need to make a difference in the world and to live a life that would inspire us.

We spent two hard years searching and struggling to find our purpose and meaning. In 2004, we came up with our business idea on a four hour road trip to North Bay. The idea itself encompassed everything for us. We wanted to live a green lifestyle. We wanted to create and share the type of environment that we enjoyed most while traveling. We wanted to continue to meet new people. We wanted to be close to nature. And most importantly, we wanted to make a difference – whether it is sharing our sustainable lifestyle or inspiring others to follow their dreams.

We were both so excited and full of inspiration. The first place that came to mind was Mattawa because it is one of the most beautiful, yet undiscovered places in Northern Ontario. However, it didn’t take long for fear to overshadow our dream. Slowly, the dream slipped away – it never left us, but it was buried deep inside.

In 2006, after a number of remarkable coincidences, the dream resurfaced. Tzach was starting to study Reiki and Jen decided to have her first session so that she could understand what he was studying. During this session, our vision was brought back to life. This time it was clear and all the fear was removed. That very same day, the listing for our place came out of no where. It felt like one of those rare opportunities that only comes once in a life time.

The next day, we went to see the place and as we slowed down to turn on to the dirt road leading to the house, there was a huge wooden sign with big, red, block letters that read, ‘No Regrets’. The message was a little too powerful to ignore and from the moment we stepped through the front doors, we both knew this was the place.

We are very grateful to be here and we look forward to sharing Nature’s Harmony with everyone who comes our way!
