We recently moved from western Canada back to our Maritime roots and built a rustic home to share with new friends and old. Located upon a rolling hilltop, we offer a great view of the water and grazing horses. We are easily found off Hwy 104 (Exit #38) about half way from Halifax to Sydney, just west of the Canso Causeway. Each room has it's own private entry so guests can come and go at their leisure to walk thru the forest or visit the local beaches (beach towels provided).

The space

Breakfast served from 7-9 am
Non scent cleaning products used for those with allergies.

Guest access

Each room equipped with apt size fridge/freezer if you bring beverages.
Iron/ironing board available.
Outside chairs to enjoy the summer evenings, star gaze or enjoy a glass of wine on the patio.

Interaction with guests

We will do our best to give information required for local events, please inquire if you have special needs/requests or allergies.
We own a small 10 yr old bischon/terrior who is non-shedding & non barking.

Beautiful house. So much thought put into the little details. Shelley is a great host who went above and beyond, including offering us snacks & a glass of wine. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast . Highly recommended!

We enjoyed absolutely everything: Seclusion/Comfort of bed/Complimentary offerings upon arrival (chocolate and Chicago Mix popcorn)/Towels/Iron/Separate entrance/TV/Breakfast/Hosts Not one thing I can nit-pick about. There is an active train running close by the house but it did not interfere with our stay. Delicious breakfast and great hosts. Would recommend A++

Shelley and Neil's home was a perfect place to stop after spending a few days touring the Cabot Trail. Their home was beautiful. Our room was elegant, comfortable and gave us privacy, not to mention a fantastic view of their horses grazing and beyond that the water. The small fridge in our room, the immaculate private bathroom and the external door which gave us direct access to outside made our stay even more enjoyable. Definitely one of the best places we have stayed. Would highly recommend it!

Shelley's place is absolutely fantastic. Everything is beautiful, with top quality fixtures and loads of comfort. We had our own separate entrance, ensuite bathroom, small fridge, and TV with cable. We were greeted warmly despite arriving late in the evening, and Shelley prepared a fabulous breakfast when we woke up in the morning. Shelley and her husband were very hospitable. Highly recommended!

This is an amazing place to stay!! A beautiful modern new home which rewards AB&B customers with a private bedroom and private bathroom which were well beyond our expectations. The private entrance to our bedroom with patio and amazing view are a nice added bonus! We felt like we were staying at a high end hotel! But the best part of our stay was the warm hospitality granted to strangers by Shelley and Neil, our hosts. Greeted with an offer for a a glass of wine, we sat in the beautiful living room and felt more like family then strangers. We had a great breakfast and didn't want to leave! A MUST stay if you are headed for Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail or going to St. FX or Antigonish area!! 5 star's plus!!

We enjoyed moving back to the area we grew up (after 40 yrs) and built our retirement retreat. We are currently adding the finishing touches and as soon as weather permits will dive into landscaping and gardening. Neil became a cowboy while in Alberta and brought back the feel of the west when he constructed our home, as well as a few horses. Shelley enjoys cooking and baking and you should never find the cookie jar empty! This is a new adventure for us and we can't wait to meet new friends!
