Welcome to our Artistic Garden retreat! Centrally located in the heart of Santa Cruz, 1 mile from Sunny Cove Beach and Pleasure Point. Close to the boardwalk, yacht harbor, Downtown Santa Cruz & Capitola. Completely detached guesthouse & spacious lush yard, private entrance, fully furnished, outdoor area and more. Our 1/2 acre farmhouse lot is a garden oasis with lush palms, proteas, bamboo & succulents weaving throughout. Our garden and private lot have it all! 1 night stay ok on weekdays.

The space
Santa Cruz! When you drive into the property, you’ll be treated to several exotic species of tropical bamboo groves and a tree top deck. We can often accommodate a 1-night stay, please inquire by message.
Come on in and relax in the expansive private garden. Our home (which is separate) as well as your completely detached guesthouse are located on a half acre of landscaped property, lush and artistic grounds with fruit and nut trees as well as bamboo and exotic garden plants. We have tons of nature around the property with a honey bee hive that help pollenate all the fruit trees & hummingbirds. Lots of birds and squirrels and landscape that is full of color and always changing with the seasons.

We hope to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

If you'd like, Let us know if you'll be here on vacation: to surf, mountain bike, sight-see, visit friends and family, here on business? If you need any guidance or recommendations we are happy to share our local knowledge. Terry offers private surf lessons for beginners and Surf Adventures in town and up the coast for more experienced surfers, just let us know if you would like more details.

We live in a completely separate home on the property with our own entrance. We have expansive yard and garden areas surrounding the property & with one outside the guesthouse for your enjoyment! So you can dine outdoors, relax, chill out and have time within the tropical garden space we've designed for your enjoyment. The Guest outdoor area is open and not fenced. We have ample on property parking access via our side street so please note the parking access and Guesthouse entry in your details.

The Guesthouse is perfect for two with a full bathroom, partial kitchen and a living area. The space is open as a studio without walls with the exception of the bathroom. The queen size bed is extremely comfy. There is a sofa that becomes an extra single bed if needed. Let us know in advance if you'll be using the couch as an additional sleeping area so we can bring in a comfy memory foam topper for this.

There is a metro rack in the bedroom closet to use for clothes, and to store your luggage.

We offer beach towels and beach chairs and you are welcome to borrow soft top long boards while you are visiting and a beach cooler on your adventures during your stay with us as well!
Kick back and relax in the Guest area garden with a large shade umbrella.

We have a stainless propane BBQ to use (just let us know so we can have it ready for you) and outdoor dining area under a walnut tree surrounded by bamboo. For your morning enjoyment there's a coffee maker and electric kettle with coffee and tea provided.

The mini-kitchen is perfect for those who won’t be spending their time on vacation or business trip cooking and cleaning. We have a small fridge, microwave, toaster, cutting boards, fun glassware, plates, cutlery, knives, etc… This guesthouse does not have a stovetop/oven for cooking.

We’ve found our guests love going out and enjoying Santa Cruz restaurants and back here using the outdoor grill or enjoying their takeout meals back here at the compound more than shopping, prepping and cooking while on holiday. If there is something you may need that is not in the guesthouse just let us know and we can walk it over from our main house. We are more than happy to provide any item that we may have overlooked or didn’t get replaced in time for your arrival.

There is a 40" Smart flat screen TV with an HDMI cable provided so you can watch movies with your own account from any of the apps provided like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple TV- just log into your account or connect your personal device to the Smart TV. We do not have cable. But the Smart TV should provide tons of viewing options.

Please note:
We charge only a nominal cleaning fee, so please leave the Guesthouse home clean as you found it
We're located in a lovely, quiet, family neighborhood.

Not a party place; we respect our neighbors!

We have a 2 night minimum Friday or Saturday.
Setup not suitable for toddlers or small children.
Not kid proof nor appropriate for littles. Guests must be 21 yrs. or older.

We have expansive outdoor space and hope to see you while you are here, upon arrival we can show you around! But we often are not home during the day as we are active - surfing, mountain biking and out enjoying Santa Cruz.

Our Farmhouse was built in 1932 during a thriving area for Live Oak as the crown jewel of hens and egg production. The chickens are gone but their history has left us with rich fertile soil where we have taken advantage of this resource to plant a flourishing garden.

Live Oak and Santa Cruz raised the second most number of chickens in the State after Petaluma, in the heyday of egg production in the first half of the 20th century. Chanticleer Ave is named after the Chanticleer Rooster, and Live Oak was the epicenter, being the location of the local Farmer’s Exchange, an enterprise modeled after the mid west member-owned Co-ops. Two trains a day brought ingredients for chicken feed to the Exchange and they were milled and blended into feed for the members.

Live Oak is rich in history and we welcome you to explore our quiet neighborhood and discover all kinds of wonderful hidden gems.
