Orilla del Mar is a small quiet complex of 84 apartments set around a mature tropical garden. A one minute wander through the garden takes you to a lovely pool and an amazing robinson crusoe beach with dramatic waves - great boogey boarding. Turn left and walk 1km to Cabarete!
Our beautiful one-bedroomed apartment is one of the most spacious in the complex. Set back in the midst of our luscious tropical gardens, the palms offer privacy and shelter from the tradewinds and scorching mid-day sun. The living space is open and airy with a recently refurbished kitchen and all mod cons. The balcony is furnished with comfortable rocking chairs and a small dining table for al fresco meals.
Included with the apartment is full access to the gardens, which meander down to the large swimming pool, just one step further and you'll be on the beach. You can drag your sunbed onto the beach or just soak up the rays around the pool. A poolside pavilion is available with a bar-be-queue and dining tables and chairs; great for social gatherings and entertaining with friends.
Interaction with guests
Whether we are in the complex or not, there are always people onsite to help with advice. Raoul is our full-time receptionist and has been here forever, Gerard, the complex manager and Susy, our agent, both live in the complex and are available to answer all your questions. If we are not around we can be contacted by email and will be happy to answer any questions.
Other things to note
The beach at Orilla del Mar is spectacular but the current can sometimes be very strong. Its great for boogey-boarding, kite-surfing or just frolicking in the waves but do be careful as their are rip-tides occasionally. Early morning is best for gentle swimming but, as long as you are aware of the dangers, you can enjoy it throughout the day.

Originally from the UK, my husband, Colin, and I 'retired' in 2013 and moved to our apartment in the Dominican Republic which we have owned since 2006. On our many enjoyable holidays in Cabarete, before our retirement, we used to talk about sailing around the Caribbean and in October 2013 we bought a sailboat and sailed off into the sunset. We sailed for nearly four years, only managing a few months ashore in our lovely apartment to enjoy the beach and the pool and all the luxuries that land-lubbers expect. Sadly, Colin's gradual hearing loss has meant a return to the UK and we are now settling into life in the pretty seaside village of Ravenglass in the Cumbrian Lake District, leaving you to enjoy our apartment and our 'Robinson Crusoe' beach.
