Our house is Architect designed with wonderful views over the valley towards Glen Affric and the mountains. Michael and I have been in the hospitality business for over 40 years and enjoy welcoming people to our home.

We owned the Western Isles Hotel in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull for 15 years. After semi retirement we opened our house Ptarmigan for Bed and Breakfast. We then lived in France for 5 years and Devon for another 5 before moving back to Scotland.

The space

The Bedroom/s we offer are spacious, thoughtfully furnished and equipped using our knowledge as hoteliers. You can book the Double room for 1 or 2 persons and if you are travelling with a child or another adult we have a single room next door. The double is £60.00 (if you would like a Z bed in this room for an extra person then we would charge £15.00 per night including breakfast, alternatively you can book the single for someone travelling with you for £40.00 per night Both these rooms share the bathroom. If you only require the Double or Single room then we would not under any circumstances book out the other room to someone you are not travelling with. This is your space and is entirely private to you.

We offer a continental breakfast buffet of cereals, toast, croissants or danish pastries and we are happy to offer a boiled egg. Our eggs come from our own chickens which free range in part of the garden.

Guest access

You are more than welcome to explore the garden which is quite wild. We also keep different types of chickens and a few ducks.

Interaction with guests

We are available during the day, although we might be down the garden or
sitting in the boat house - just come and find us.

We are happy to make tea and for our guests to sit in the lounge or the garden during the day.

Other things to note

We do have my elderly mother living with us but I am sure she will not cause
you an inconvience.

We also have two cats - these are not allowed upstairs in the guest bedrooms.

- We would like our guests to respect our house and not to be too noisy in the evenings. We would also request that guests take off their shoes before going up to their bedroom. Whilst we are happy for guests to use the outside space to eat during the day, we do expect our guests to go out to eat in the evening and not prepare food in their room or bring back hot takeaway food. We are a Bed and Breakfast and do not have a kitchen that guests can use. There are a number of restaurants in nearby Drumnadrochit and a pub in Tomich that would suit most tastes and we are happy to make reservations at one of these for you.

Sue's place is a great home to stay while passing through Inverness and the Scottish Highlands. The place was just as expected and was set up like a true bed and breakfast. Great experience overall, secluded, and perfect.

Sue and Micheal are the perfect host! Kind, quiet, helpful, respectful and comprehensive. The place is totally lovely, the view... Wow! The garden is big and we can enjoy it as we want. We have enjoyed to take a break at the boat house look around just for the beauty. The bedroom is wonderful, the bed comfy (king size). We really really sleep well. There is a couch in the room to relaxe. Just a side to the main room there is a small room available if you are more than 2 (1 kids or another traveller) We stay there 2 nights and seriously we recommend this place to all. The host make a really nice breakfast in the morning and adjust to your preference for the hour and for the meal. Coffee, tea, juice, boilled egg, croissant, cereal... Wow! Beautiful to look and lovely to eat Near of Glen Affric to do hiking, Urquhart Castle and near of the city to have drinks and dinner. We enjoyed it and our holiday had been improved! Thanks again to Sue and Michael

Sue and her husband were absolutely delightful hosts, at an also delightful place. They were really accommodating about the rooms and time of arrival, and helped us a lot with tips about the nice places and ways to get there. Their home has an incredible view and the rooms are spotless, well furnished and confortable. Would definitely spend nights there again!

The place is beautiful and spotless clean. Sue and Michael are great hosts and we had a good time chatting with them. Michael is very funny! :) They made sure we were comfortable, booked a place for dinner for us and provided us with a yummy breakfast. I loved the little touches with all the notes personalised with our names. The room was airy and comfortable and could comfortably fit our toddler's cot. The view from the lounge is breathtaking and it's worth walking around their garden. Great stay, shame it was only for one night.
