Stone Rooms 1850 is located high up in Gjirokaster, looking down on the Castle and the Bazaar and across the Drina Valley to the mountains on the other side. We arrived in late afternoon and the views were breathtaking. Eda and her family were perfect hosts (Eda speaks very good english) and we were made very welcome. The rooms are spotless and are furnished in the traditional local style; you really get a sense of Ottoman times, with the benefit of modern amenities. There was only one bathroom, but another was being built during our stay. Eda offers a traditional evening meal and breakfast at very reasonable prices - we were delighted by the excellent home cooking on the terrace in the company of her 30 tortoises. Highly recommended.
Just one note: Do not rely on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps to get you there. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) is way behind the curve in Albania (as at July 2017) and several major roads (and most minor ones) were either missing or wrongly named. Just send Eda an SMS before you arrive and she will send you the correct directions. Beware, the roads are steep, narrow and cobbled but no problem for a normal car.
