COZY BEDROOM in INWOOD (Upper Manhattan) in spacious prewar 2-bedroom apartment, all-inclusive: utilities, hi-speed cable WiFi; bedding, towels, fan, in-room AC. Lovely, safe, friendly, unique neighborhood with 2 parks & 2 museums. Beautiful & immaculately clean 1929 art déco building, 1 block from great shopping, restaurants, bars; 5 minutes from A train/10 minutes from 1 train 207th Street stops (great West Side access: 22 minutes to Lincoln Center; 38 minutes to Union Square).

The space

A quiet, spacious, sunlight-and-artwork-filled 2-bedroom apartment on the top-floor of a 6-story building. Elevator building (a relief if your luggage is heavy!); laundry in the basement.

Guest access

Vestibule; living room/home office with spinet piano (which musician guests are welcome to play until 9:30pm), shared bathroom, bedroom, very large (by New York standards) eat-in kitchen with a view of the Inwood Farmhouse Museum across the street and Inwood Hill Park beyond. In the summer, when the trees are in full leaf, looking out at the view from the breakfast table, you would not think you are in a city at all.

Interaction with guests

I am available and would be delighted to offer any advice about visiting or moving to New York City. I speak fluent French and pretty good German (and a little Irish and Scots Gaelic too) and love to practice my languages!

Other things to note

You have to like cats. I have two very friendly and affectionate cats, Sam and Khyssa. Khyssa is a purebred Egyptian Mau, the most ancient breed of domestic cats in the world, the pharaohs' cats, worshipped as gods for thousands of years. A fact she seems sometimes to remember.... Sam is a street kid from Brooklyn. They would love to sit in your lap(s) and visit with you in your room if you let them!

PS I am a very meticulous housekeeper: the apartment has almost no carpets and is not full of fur on the floor or furniture, not does it smell like litterbox! (I use expensive high-tech cat silicone litter.) My friends who have only a mild cat allergy have no problem visiting.

I was fortunate to have another stay in Christopher's flat and was glad for it. He is friendly, engaging and accommodating which goes a long way in the atmosphere of one's stay and something I greatly appreciate. His flat is charmingly decorated and impeccably clean and cared for. A pleasure.

Stop reading and book this room now! Christopher checks all the marks for a spectacular stay! Meeting such interesting people and having genuine connections; it's what I love about the AirBnB experience. Staying with Christopher was like visiting a dear friend who just got back from an European excursion. He is welcoming, easy to communicate with, and a gracious host. His two dear cats, Sam and Khyssa, kept watch over our bed and made sure we were well taken care of as well. The Inwood neighborhood is lovely and worth exploring. We were within walking distance of 2 subway lines and a few coffee shops and eateries. 5 Stars all the way!

Response from Christopher:
Likewise, I'm sure! If AirBnB made it possible for hosts to INVITE new guests, I'd say, stop reading and invite Deara and Katarina now too!

The experience with Christopher has been by far much better than a hotel for us, since the beginning he has been such a charming and welcoming host, always ready to help and make us feel comfortable while being in NY (thus adding a human touch to our experience in a country we had never visited before). He is an animal lover, and according to his house he must love art too, wether is music, painting or classic vintage furniture/design. It was an amazing airbnb experience, it doesnt matter how much I use airbnb and meet lovely people, there is always someone like Chris ready to raise the bar. Thanks!

Christopher is a knowlegeable and warm-hearted houseowner, his apartment is clean, comfortable and well-decorated with good taste of art. Although we only stayed there for one day(we wish we could stay for longer time there), but we really enjoyed staying there, chatting with Christopher as well as the accompany of the sweet cats(Sam and Kisa)

Christopher was an amazing host! His place was accurately described and I loved the location of his place. The building has an elevator (most buildings around this location don't) and is easy to locate from the A train. I would definitely book this place again. I also loved how clean his place was even with having two lovely cats, they were great hosts too :)
