COZY BEDROOM in INWOOD (Upper Manhattan) in spacious prewar 2-bedroom apartment, all-inclusive: utilities, hi-speed cable WiFi; bedding, towels, fan, in-room AC. Lovely, safe, friendly, unique neighborhood with 2 parks & 2 museums. Beautiful & immaculately clean 1929 art déco building, 1 block from great shopping, restaurants, bars; 5 minutes from A train/10 minutes from 1 train 207th Street stops (great West Side access: 22 minutes to Lincoln Center; 38 minutes to Union Square).
A quiet, spacious, sunlight-and-artwork-filled 2-bedroom apartment on the top-floor of a 6-story building. Elevator building (a relief if your luggage is heavy!); laundry in the basement.
Vestibule; living room/home office with spinet piano (which musician guests are welcome to play until 9:30pm), shared bathroom, bedroom, very large (by New York standards) eat-in kitchen with a view of the Inwood Farmhouse Museum across the street and Inwood Hill Park beyond. In the summer, when the trees are in full leaf, looking out at the view from the breakfast table, you would not think you are in a city at all.
Interaction with guests
I am available and would be delighted to offer any advice about visiting or moving to New York City. I speak fluent French and pretty good German (and a little Irish and Scots Gaelic too) and love to practice my languages!
Other things to note
You have to like cats. I have two very friendly and affectionate cats, Sam and Khyssa. Khyssa is a purebred Egyptian Mau, the most ancient breed of domestic cats in the world, the pharaohs' cats, worshipped as gods for thousands of years. A fact she seems sometimes to remember.... Sam is a street kid from Brooklyn. They would love to sit in your lap(s) and visit with you in your room if you let them!
PS I am a very meticulous housekeeper: the apartment has almost no carpets and is not full of fur on the floor or furniture, not does it smell like litterbox! (I use expensive high-tech cat silicone litter.) My friends who have only a mild cat allergy have no problem visiting.
No shoes in the house. Quiet hours after midnight! Check-in and check-out times are both adjustable depending on guests' needs and my schedule. PLEASE let me know your preferred check-in and check-out times as soon as possible.
I am a theatrical and publishing professional who has lived in New York City for more than thirty years. I work as a choreographer, director, writer, editor, and translator (mainly of nonfiction from French to English). I am Canadian born, and a cat lover. My travel loves are Paris and Iceland. I offer a homey, cozy atmosphere in my light-and-art-filled apartment in northern Manhattan. You can play my piano and relax after a long day zooming around NYC!
