Quiet and comfortable private bedroom in a stylish, contemporary home. Set in a peaceful residential area surrounded by several diverse neighborhoods featuring excellent restaurants, boutique shopping, and entertaining nightlife. A block away from the East Lake Golf course, two miles from Agnes Scott Campus and just a few more miles away from Emory and downtown. Quick access to I-20, I-285, and the 75/85 Connector to Downtown or Midtown.

The space

Two-story, three-bedroom house built in the 1950s. Two bedrooms are on the main level; the front bedroom (East Bedroom) is available in this listing. There is a bathroom on the main level, located between the two bedrooms. Check my profile to see the other room listed or to rent both.

The available bedroom comes furnished with the following:
- a queen-sized bed
- a twin-sized air mattress
- fold-out writing desk
- 27" TV with a Roku streaming box loaded with premium cable channels, Netflix, and Hulu.
- plenty of space to hang clothing

- The home is modern but true to its mid-century roots: cozy living spaces, hardwood floors, and a beautiful, double-sided gas fireplace.
- The kitchen is fully equipped with all your cooking needs and features restored vintage steel cabinets, poured concrete countertops, and handmade ceramic tiling.
- Artwork made by friends and family adorns the walls of the home.
- The backyard is large and features a full privacy fence, making it a green space to relax or entertain company.

When at home, I mostly keep to the master bedroom suite on the second floor.

Guest access

Guests have access to the East bedroom, main floor bathroom, living room, dining area, kitchen, laundry facility, and backyard. Feel free to cook or entertain, just be aware of the other guests, perhaps invite them to join in and clean up after yourself.

Other things to note

Commonly home to one friendly, well-groomed young male cat who is free to come and go as he pleases.

Common sense abounds. Clean up your messes, use the provided coasters, maybe don’t hula-hoop in the shower. It is an old house, so please be aware that noise travels. You are welcome to use the kitchen and even entertain (in moderation). Please just return everything to its tidy state when you are finished.

Common sense abounds. Tidy up after yourself, don't track in unspeakable things on your shoes, coasters under sweaty glasses on wood surfaces, and attempt to not hula hoop while showering. It is an old house, so noise will travel so keep the TV at a sensible level, try to not shout into your phone. You are welcomed to use the kitchen (goodness knows I don't) and even entertain, moderately...we just ask that you return everything to its tidy state when you are finished.

You must also acknowledge
Pet(s) live on property - Commonly home to one friendly young male cat, well groomed, who may or may not be present depending on his whims. He is free to go as he pleases.
Some spaces are shared - The main floor bathroom is shared between both downstairs bedrooms. The kitchen, dining room, and living room is considered common areas.

Jonathan was an excellent host. His place was clean, well laid out, and included essentials for every traveler -- from umbrellas to stamps. Jonathan was always available to help with any questions and advice on the Atlanta/Decatur area. Highly recommended!

Jonathan's house was more than what I could ask for. I was in Atlanta for a conference in November and I stayed at Jonathan's place for five days. Everything was so well-thought-out, right from bathroom cubbies to kitchen utilities to other tiny daily needs! No wonder they have 5-stars for all categories. I couldn't interact with either Jonathan or Cynthia much due to my schedule but they helped me via text/call when I needed help. At one point Cynthia helped me in an emergency and saved me from much agony. All in all, totally recommend this place and these people. I hope some day I can take a leaf out of their book and manage an Airbnb place as organized and convenient as this one.

Great, homey space. You don't feel as though you're in someone elses' space, it feels very inviting and cozy. Pickles the cat is a sweety, so if you're missing your fur babies back home, you'll be pleasantly surprised to meet this friend. Jonathan was a great host, he made sure you felt welcomed and it was nice that he was just doing house work and keeping busy. If you are into sustainable living, this place is a good fit! Jonathan was out clearing the road and was telling me about this beautiful rich soil he was going to reuse, he seemed to always be doing gardening when I came in. Alltogether my stay was quite pleasant!

Jonathan's place was perfect for our trip to Atlanta. My brother and I were attending the Tour Championship golf tournament that is hosted by East Lake Golf Club. The golf course was literally only a block away from the house. This made the location perfect. Jonathan was a great host and even poured us some drinks before we headed to the course our first afternoon. He made sure we had everything we needed and knew how to properly lock the house up at night. He made himself available at all times. I could not have asked for a better host and location for attending the golf tournament!

Interaction with guests

When I am in Atlanta (and not at work), I’m okay with giving you as much or little interaction as you want. I am happy to recommend restaurants, farmers markets, and the bar scene, or provide any general information about the city. Feel free to ask.

About Jonathan

Hello, I'm Jonathan. I'm a single gay man in my mid 30's. I was born and raised in a small farming community in Illinois. I moved to Atlanta about 12 years ago after college, and I bought my home in 2010. I work in the restaurant industry, with a focus on sustainable and local foodways practices. I travel a lot and enjoy playing Mr. Fix-it in my house.
