We are in Suffolk countryside, surrounded by fields with amazing views, colourful sunrises & sunsets.
There is a maze of footpath & walks right on our door-step. Ideal for that quiet week-end.
Spectacular thunderstorms sometimes occur as the cloud formations follow the river valleys. During these storms rain-bows appear. We've not yet found a pot of gold though!
At night if the sky is cloudless you can see all the stars & spot the well-known constellations. There is very little light pollution.

The space
This is our little smallholding which we are renovating. We have a mixture of animals which include ponies, chickens, ducks & dog.

You will be staying in your very own warm & cozy private space with a fully fitted & equipped kitchen, solar heated shower with plenty of hot water & upstairs bed-room with a star gazing window over the bed. There's even an upstairs loo so you don't have to go downstairs at night.

The bed mattress is a John Lewis 'memory foam' double, with excellent reviews. A good number of guests write on their feedback that this is very comfortable.

There's wi-fi and a digital radio but please note there is NO TELEVISION. I have no TV licence.
Being 'rural' we have been somewhat overlooked by BT and although it normally works well there are occasions when it is slow or non-existant! Patience is then needed as it will come back. Peak times such as directly after school children get home is one example.

In the fridge there's delicious fresh eggs from our flock of free range Marans along with milk, butter, brown bread and two types of cereals in the cupboard not forgetting marmalade & honey, all for a yummy breakfast! Perfect for vegetarians too. I am happy to suply Oatley oat milk instead of dairy milk but please ask as I shop specifically for your stay.

There's no lounge or sofa due to lack of space but there are two five star rated padded camp chairs (the purple & black items in the photographs). These have good reviews from past guests & can be used in many parts of the space being very portable. They work well in the porch which, although small, is a warm bright and a pleasant place to sit. The camp table complements the space. In summer time they can be used outside on the paved area to enjoy the evening plus star watching later. Being padded you won't get cold undersides.
We are open for limited times during the winter months but there are no street-lights so please bring a torch, you may find it a useful thing to have.

Guest access
You can visit the ponies & other animals during the day & walk around our garden. We have a perimeter walk, through the vegetable garden & round our field.
There's a picnic bench in its own secluded area to use during the day and if you wish to stay up and watch one of those spectacular starlit nights, we are lucky to have when the sky is cloudless, this is a good spot. You'll need a blanket mind!
A multitude of wild birds live here owing to the favourable habitat. You may see Barn Owls hunting the grassland, a Kesterel or two and other migratory birds visit depending on the time of year. This includes Fieldfares and Redwings.
The porch and its paved area is an early morning & late afternoon sun trap during summer time. There's the comfortable padded camp chairs on which to sit & watch the day. These camp chairs can be moved out or in depending on the sunshine.
This little room has been built using the highest possible insulation standards, so along with the argon filled door & window glass it is never cold when you are sitting comfortably inside watching the weather outside.

Other things to note
You'll have to bring your own shampoo or shower gel as this isn't supplied. I'm concerned about allergies.
There's natural soap for hand washing.
There is internet

We are in the middle of rural farmed Suffolk with far reaching views. There is little road noise. There are no street lights so it is very dark which makes for great stargazing if the sky is cloudless.
Places of interest are all within easy reach.
Plenty of walks on footpaths & permissive routes.
Rumburgh is a small village with its own very popular pub.
There are many easy circular cycle routes suitable for everyone.

I am a craftsman (Brickie) who is fulfilling a lifetimes ambition restoring & creating our Victorian smallholding. We like eating well & grow a lot of our own food with a productive garden & polytunnel. We supply our own free-range eggs for your breakfast. We're told they're delicious! We like films with Forrest Gump, Galaxy Quest & Life of Brian being favorites. I like wine & specialist craft beer. I used to do a lot of dinghy sailing but with the children away & our project on-going there just isn't the time now. My wife is a horse charmer to a small band of elderly ponies & has very green fingers. I work in a local Pupil Referral Unit for 'naughty boys', on the maintenance team.
