Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Welcome to Down the Road Guesthouse, your perfect base for exploring the Bay of Fundy’s highest tides in the world.

Located just minutes from the Rocks Provincial Park, our historic five bedroom, two bath home has been in our family for more than 150 years, longer than Canada has been a country. It was completely renovated in 2017 while keeping the country character of the home. The property is large, with plenty of space inside and out, all within walking distance of the Bay of Fundy.

The space
The house features five bedrooms, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, free wi-fi, a completely new heating and air conditioning system, two sun porches and more.

The first floor features a bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in shower. The shower has a built-in seat. Upstairs are three more bedrooms and a full bath, while the back steps will take you to the large loft.

The property is surrounded by lawns, a field and woods, and has a trail that will bring you to the Fundy shoreline within a 10- to 15-minute walk. Here you will have access to the Fundy shoreline where you can see the water rise and fall up to 50 feet on one day.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire house, except the basement, and the entire rural property. This includes several large lawns and a spectacular fire pit. There's also a dirt road across the field which takes you directly to the Bay of Fundy within about a 20 minute walk.

Other things to note
This is a rural property near woods. Stray animals such as dogs, cats, groundhogs and the occasional deer may visit the property.

Neighbourhood highlights

The best part of the area is that it sits between two beautiful nature parks. The Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park is just a few minutes away while Fundy National Park is about a half-hour down a scenic country highway.

For outdoor lovers, hiking, swimming, zip lining, kayaking and some of the most dramatic views on Canada’s east coast are just around the corner.

There are also several small museums in the area including a historic jail and courthouse.

Moncton, the hub of Canada’s Maritime region, is a short drive away, with an international airport, fine dining and some of the best shopping in the Atlantic region.

The nearby Village of Hillsborough features a small selection of groceries, gas, and restaurants, while Alma, (30 km or 18 miles away) is the gateway to Fundy Park, with some of the best seafood our region has to offer. This is another great spot to see the power of tides.

The home is about a three-hour drive from the Maine border, two hours from Saint John, one hour from Nova Scotia and about 90 minutes from Prince Edward Island, meaning you could see all three Maritime provinces in one long day trip.
