When no two contiguous days are available one night stays are ok. All we ask you abide by the house rules.

The space
This is a modern and new (3 years) studio. It is attached to the main house. The studio consists of three separate rooms: a small kitchen, a bedroom, and a large bathroom. Bedroom and bathroom have large glass sliding windows.
KITCHEN
The studio has a fully equipped kitchen containing:
A regular sized refrigerator,
a convection stove top (no stove),
utensils, dishware, cooking utensils, glassware, coffee machine,
A good sized microwave and
A full sink.
CLOSET
A decent sized closet with shelves. In the closet you'll find two bathrobes (2), ironing board with iron, safety kit, shoe polish, extra towels and bed ware, board games, a shelf with snacks for purchase.
BEDROOM
A 12 by 11 bedroom with overhead fan (their is also central AC), a foldable table for eating or doing work and two chairs. A comfy chair for relaxing and a bookcase with some books and literature about the area. Bed is a queen with a double pillow top and 4 pillows. It has two glass (open) side tables. In bed you'll have a view out over the canyons, mountains.
BATHROOM
Off from the bedroom is a modern and stylish bathroom (9x11) with
a large tub (great view of the city and ocean),
a glass enclosed shower with one large shower head and a handheld shower head (shampoo, body wash, conditioner included).
Two separate sinks, each with it's own (large) lighted vanity, storage space with drawers and cabinets. soap and lotion dispensers (2 each) can be found behind the sinks.
Hair dryer, flat irons are in the top drawer.
Toilet space is separate from the shower and tub (8x4).
Fixtures are modern and top of the line.
PATIO
The 8 x 6 patio is separated from the bedroom by a large glass sliding door. It has a small table with two chairs. From the patio you can see the Santa Ynez mountains, several canyons, the city, the harbor, Followed by the Santa Barbara Channel and the Channel Islands.

Private parking is on the property, next to the studio.

Free Breakfast includes coffee, tea, assorted sweetbreads, fruit, yoghurt, and a small juice.

Snacks and small meals (such as Amy's bowls frozen) are available at a charge.

Guest access
The studio has its' own entrance, about 20 feet from where you park. You also have access to a semi-private (but not shared) (URL HIDDEN) patio. The bedroom is adjacent to the hallway leading to anther bedroom. At times voices can be heard in hallway or bedroom. Studio rooms and patio are separated by pocket doors and a glass sliding door. The rest of the house and surrounding property are mostly off limits.

Other things to note
Although the studio has its own entrance, it is not 100% private, in that, it is connected to the main house and your bedroom is 6 ft. from another bedroom, separated only by a hallway and two thin walls. And because it can be amazingly quiet around here, sounds can be heard from the studio and from the house. Most of the sounds you will hear come from the birds, or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the wind blowing through the trees.
Aside from the views, one of the attractions, that we enjoy, is that you can see stars here at night - unless there is a bright moon, a marine layer or clouds. On a clear night one can see far into the universe. So, yes it is dark at night, unless there's a full moon, and very little street lighting. The residence itself and the entryway to the studio are well lit. We highly recommend guests arrive before it gets dark since the place may be a tad difficult to find.

Because of the marine layer it can be both sunny (warm to hot) and cool here. Many times you'll wake up or go to bed and be in the midst of clouds or looking over a layer of clouds. So, it can be hot or on the cool side and all in one day. Note that the house has central air. We keep the temperature (winter) at 72 during the day and 68 during the night. In the summer, when needed, we try to keep the temperature at between 72 and 74.
There is a ceiling fan and a small portable fan (upon request).
Actual ocean sunsets are from the middle of November to the end of January. The sunrise can be seen from the bed (when the blinds are up) or from the patio.

Santa Barbara, California, United States

The neighborhood is hilly/mountainous and there are many hiking trails. The trailhead for the 'Tunnel' trail and Inspiration Point is within walking distance. Also within a 10 to 15 minute walking distance is the botanical garden, the mission, and the museum of natural history. As stated the area not level, so walking to any of these places can be a bit strenuous.

Time to open for those that meet certain criteria. We’re meeting CdC criteria and more . Don’t hesitate to ask about our cleaning procedure. Two days between guests. Studio is totally disinfected. Also totally aired out . We await your visit. Hi, I'm a native of Ohio with roots in Virginia, who migrated to CA many moons ago. Once here, I heard the siren call of the mighty Pacific. Before that, and many years after, my calling was as a nurse, but for my first stint in CA, I was the Cable Girl. Trying to sell cable in a very hot place called "Palm Springs". Oh, I loved that motel pool at the end of the day. Anyways I digress. Back to the cool environs of the hospital, I started my nursing stint at Hoag, down by the peninsula where I met my hubby to be, Yes Balboa, the ferry rides were my favorite. Well, this hubby to be convinced me to go with him to Tibet. Tibet never happened, Iran, like now was a pain in the behind. After a wild ride in the next best place, Amsterdam, owning a Mexican/American Cantina we decided to return to this magical world, called California. First to Chico, where I learned, that yes, there is a Paradise and it only took twenty minutes to get there and then life took a little twist...we moved to Iowa. Hubby thought he could become some sort of academic. LOL. Sorry kids, I know them were some rough times. Well Iowa came and went and we moved to Santa Barbara (the circle of life?) And why not, we loved the south/central coast and there was an acre of land, albeit burned, waiting to be resurrected, a property (homestead) that burned in the Jesusita fire. The rest is history in the making as you'll see if you visit with us. Hopefully the Phoenix can rise one more time.
