We are so glad we stayed at Joshua’s little casita in town instead of at a beach resort, as we were able to shop and cook on our own, meet a few neighbors and local taxi drivers, and overall gain a more intimate knowledge of the area and it’s people, while saving some money. It’s a very short and affordable taxi ride (or walk) to any of the surrounding restaurants, beaches, and cenotes. The main Avenida Tulum is roughly 6 blocks away. Up and down the street, you can find every kind of food/drink and knick knack (most for a very fair price). Nearing the resorts on the beach (80-100 peso/ $5 usd taxi ride), there are also many more great (more expensive) places to eat and buy wares, and of course the beaches are absolutely gorgeous! Joshua was on holiday when we first arrived in Tulum, but we got to meet and chat with him quite a bit when he returned. He gave us some great advice about places to go in the future (we had already gone on a few adventure tours and explored some ruins/cenotes by the time he got back), he also gave us some very important info regarding buying Duty Free tequila vs. buying in town (very important xD haha). Overall Joshua, his co-workers Itzel and Matias from Secret Gardens, and this sweet little “Casita Verde” made for an amazing and relaxing part of our vacation in Tulum. We miss it already!!!

Joshua and Chelsea are super knowledgeable about where to go and what to do in Tulum. They gave us excellent tips and directions. The secret garden apartment is perfect for two and tucked away in a nice neighborhood walking distance from downtown:)

Joshua was very easy to communicate with and was very welcoming when we arrived. He lives next door. Very helpful with ideas for restaurants and cenotes to go to for swimming. The house was in a good neighbourhood for walking to restaurants and shopping. We were able to get info from the hotel owned by Joshua for tours and ride to the airport.

We couldn't have been happier with Joshua's accommodations and hospitality. His place was clean, comfortable and within convenient walking distance of the main drag. His suggestions for restaurants and activities were spot-on. We would definitely stay again.

Joshua was a perfect host! He was communicative and kind and gave me some great recommendations for the town. The flat was very charming and very conveniently located. The bed is lovely and I had several nights of restful sleep. Really loved the hammock in the front yard. Thanks again Joshua!

Good: - Clean and comfortable small house for 1 or 2 persons. Good ventilation and climate devices to stay cool. - Near to the entrance to Tulum, in a quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to restaurants on the Main Street. Not so good: - Joshua leaves you stay in peace, but is not very helpful when asked for other things. Basically you are by your own. Don't expect much of a conversation neither. - The kitchen has no suplies. No salt, no oil, no sugar... nothing. It's not of much use to have a kitchen without basic suplies. - The house doesn't have it's own WiFi, it's shared with house next door (Although hey try to trick you with an access point connected to he power outlet but no network connectio). This gives poor quality to the signal, for example I struggled having (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)/hangouts calls and watching videos.

Response from Joshua:
Hola Agus, Thank you for your review, we really appreciate your time and this way we can improve. About your Not so good part, when you check in I gave a map of town, some tips of where to eat, where to go, my favorite beach areas and some secret spots, I also told you that if you need something please email me or text me anytime of the day or night. You text me several time with question about beer, laundry, the beach, restaurants and more; and I answer almost immediately. There is a convinience store 3 minutes walking distance to the house where you can buy supplies, I could tell you this or get you all you need next time you need to let me know. Same thing with the internet, there is an ONOFF switch that is why the internet was not working, it was off. I am sorry our communication was not the best, but next time we will change this. (Also Agus Ra ask me to store his bycicle and his lauggage for 8 days in the house, unfortunately I could not help him with this). Regards
