The Guest House at the RTC Training and Professional Services Centre features a comfortable stay at the premises of Bhutan's top rated private college, the Royal Thimphu College. Set in the serene woods of the Ngabiphu valley, the College is just 20 minutes away from the centre of Thimphu city. Dining options are available on campus, and nearby. Check with us in advance about options for a guided tour of campus as well as informative orientation talks on Bhutan and Gross National Happiness!

The space

The Royal Thimphu Campus is a secure and safe academic environment. Guests enjoy one of the most peaceful and beautiful areas in Thimphu. Don't miss the incredible views of the world's largest sitting Buddha statue across the valley. We have 8 rooms total all under the name 'Royal Thimphu College Guesthouse', so feel free to book multiple rooms for your group of up to 16 guests depending on booking availability.

Guest access

Basic wi-fi is accessible from all rooms. Additional facilities such as a washer/dryer are accessible on request.

Interaction with guests

Our guesthouse in-charge is generally available for queries during daytime hours, but can be contacted in case of urgent needs at other times; the facility is ultimately a simple educational institution in a beautiful and peaceful environment, and we are aiming to keep our rates affordable rather than aiming to be like a fully-serviced hotel with 24/7 service.

Being an educational institution, we would be happy to talk with you about options for a guided tour of campus, as well as informative orientation talks on topics ranging from Bhutan and Gross National Happiness to culture, society, business, and environmental management in Bhutan, among others. We'll be happy to point you in the right direction and facilitate arrangements for booking taxis for short or day-long sight-seeing in Thimphu.

Other things to note

Please do keep in touch with us regarding your arrival time and plans so that we can provide you the best possible service! For dining options on campus, these are generally available between the hours of 7:30 am - 8:30 pm daily for food service (the canteen closes around 8:45 pm) in Spring and Fall (March-June and August-November); in the summer break (July) and winter break (December-February), hours are 8 am - 6 pm Mon-Fri and 9 am - 5pm on Sat-Sun. Check with us in advance if you'd like to pre-order something anticipating a later arrival, or during the summer break and winter break hours. The entire campus, including the guest house, is a non-smoking area.

The place is right in the lap of the rich green mountains. It is slightly away from the main city of Thimphu but the rooms are lovely. They are cosy, warm and very welcoming. The rooms are so good it beats any hotel room. Neat washrooms and clean bed linens is what I was looking for after a long drive and I was so delighted with the fact that I choose to stay there. We had a car at our disposal so the commute became easy for us but you can easily get a cab to reach the college. The host Sherab made sure we were comfortable and everything was available to us. The best part about the stay is that you feel you are back on campus. It was so nice to see young Bhutanese youth dressed in their national attire rushing to class and hanging out with their friends. We chatted up with a few of them. The canteen offers good food but closed by 9 but that's all right because you will grab your dinner mostly in the city. All in all a great experience and a wonderful stay. You can see the entire valley and the Buddha point right from your room. Thanks for hosting us Sherab

One of the best places to stay in thimpu. The rooms are very nice, comfortable and affordable. The view is amazing too. The cafeteria also serves tasty food. The host Ms. Sherab deserves a lot of appreciation, as she will go out of her way to help you. Its a little bit far from the city but It should not cost you more than 200 INR (for 4 people) from thimpu city to reach the place. And also the guest house is quote well known so you won't have any issues finding it.

Guest house is located at secluded location with great views. If you don't mind staying bit away from town then its a great place. Room was clean and tidy with everything provided in the room. Food options are very limited.

The Guest House was located at a beautiful valley in Thimpu.. 11 km drive from the city. Sherub was very good host helped me to navigate easily to the location and kept track so that we don't get lost. She also guided efficiently of places to visit in Thimpu and suggest economical options too. The room is same as shown in the photograph ms neat and clean. I wish to stay here once again

We stumbled upon the RTC campus after a friend recommended it to us, and sure enough we understood why. We got a clear, unobstructed view of the distant Himalayan peaks from our room. The guest house is located away from the bustle of the city, in the middle of hills, surrounded by trees and silence. The rooms are extremely comfortable and absolutely worth the price. Our hosts were very considerate and ensured we had all the amenities even before we could ask for them. The food at the campus cafeteria is really good. We had all our meals there and it was worth every penny. The best part of it all, was how pretty the location is. Our words here will not do any justice of the beauty of the place. Agreed it is a little away from the city and people may find that inconvenient. We are not those people! Absolutely enjoyed our stay. We will surely recommend it to everyone and be back ourselves!

RTC was a lucky find for us at the last minute, since our Bhutan trip was totally unplanned. But, we are so glad to have had the pleasure of staying at the college guesthouse, the campus of which is extremely beautiful and spacious. Our hosts, Samir, the Dean of external relations at RTC made us feel welcome and Ms Sherab made sure we had everything we needed. The room was big enough, clean, with heaters, extremely comfortable beds and comforters/quilts. The only downside to the stay is that it's quite far from the centre of the city in Thimphu. But if you love the quiet and peace, and a beautiful view, this is it. And it's a true value for money.
