Description

This casa with it's pool is on a hill and still has a wilderness to it. You are living amongst the birds, iguanas and butterflies.
It is peaceful and private you hear the waves crash onto the shores and the various birds call out to each other.

casa quetzal is a beautiful house up on the Nanzal Hill, built facing North towards the ocean, catching every ocean breeze making this house cool and fresh. From every room there are amazing views. The windows are doors that totally open up towards the ocean. You can see it everywhere, in every room and hear the waves rolling into the sandy beaches.
Very comfortable and breezy.

Sayulita can get noisy especially around the Holidays and Spring Break and casa quetzal is a welcome refuge from all the bustle, yet only minutes away from the pueble and the beaches.

The roof is one huge space with hamacas, a BBQue and a table large enough to seat 8 people. Up here you can see eye to eye with the seagulls and every once in a while if you are lucky with the eagles.

The whole top floor is one open space.
Fully functional kitchen with granite counters and bar chairs ideal for breakfasts and snacks. Traditional style Mexican dishes, Italian stove-top espresso maker, blender, pots & pans, etc...
The dining room has a table to seat six people overlooking the pueblo and the living room with it's comfortable traditional 'equipaque' furnitures. There is a small bathroom, a toilet and a sink.

Downstairs are the three bed rooms. All open up fully towards the sea. The master bed-room with a king-sized bed has it's own bathroom, shower and little balcony overlooking the garden.
The middle room (with two twin-sized beds, ideally for children, but can be pushed together to make a king bed for a couple) and the third bed room (with king-bed) share a bathroom, each room has it's own sink and closet area, but the shower and toilet are shared.
Mosquito nets are provided for each bed. Hanging there, ready to be used.

Around the salt-water pool there are three, pool chaises with pillows.

In the garden we have many different patios some with hamacas and walk-ways where you can be private or find the different fruit-bearing trees and taste their fruit.

casa quetzal is a truly quiet, serene and private place, ideal for family gatherings, friends or just the two of you!

It is best to rent a car in Puerto Vallarta, this way you don't have to walk up and down the hill, which might be a challenge for some, especially in the heat.
To others the walk up and down is a welcome exercise.

Please look at:

Serenity and nature.
Birds, iguanas, butterflies, fire-bugs at night.

A car is recommendable, although the walk up and down the hill is possible and an excellent way to get into shape. There are taxis who will take you back up on those day you don't feel like walking. ATV's is another possibility.

The other reviews and host description of this perch are just-right: this is a scenic, beautiful house situated amongst the birds and trees. It's ideal for those of us who enjoy a good hike back and forth from town -- 10 minutes to the lively center, and 10 minutes back to your peaceful and quiet retreat. We enjoyed post-walk soaks in the pool, dinner parties in the living room with all the doors wide open, and the quiet, nice bedrooms. Outdoor showers -- added bonus!

Jaw dropping views! Very simple, cozy space with well functioning kitchen and wifi. The road leading up to the house is quite steep so I would recommend a car and a confident driver. Not sure if it's a normal issue but there was a frequent noise that was produced from the water truck that was delivering water to the complex in front of us, not only during the day but in the evening as well. But anyway, did I mention the view? Absolutely worth the climb up. This property is very special.

Response from Patrice:
Hello Georgette, I am happy you enjoyed your stay! I have heard complaints from several neighbors about this truck delivering water. I don't know what kind of problems they encountered, but this is not a usual occurrence. Sorry this happened while you were there and if you come back to Sayulita again I'll be happy to get you a discount! best wishes Patrice

Fantastic views and very spacious. The house was beautiful and all the amenities you would need for an extended vacation were available. As some people have mentioned it is an easy 10 min walk to town but quite steep getting back but it is a short inexpensive cab ride from the centre of town. Abel who looks after the house is great and always available by text or phone for anything you may need. The return taxi service he set up that met us at the airport was 1st class. We really enjoyed our stay and our time in Sayulita.

Great view, steep road need a car or 4WD golf cart to get up, many houses being build around the place. Limited kitchenware and bedding, basic unkept building, host experience made up for everything Patrice and Abel are great.

This place far exceeded my high expectations! I felt like a princess living atop a magic hill in a castle. Too bad the spell broke and I've had to go back to reality. Seriously, that hill is not for the faint of heart (or the out of shape). But it's worth the price you pay in bottoming out your rental car or sweating on the walk--there's a peace and solitude up there that feels wonderful. And you can still hear the waves pounding on the shore down below.

Originally I am from Switzerland and have visited and lived in many different places in the world. Now I mostly share my time between Berkeley, California and Nayarit, Mexico.
I love to open my space to travelers, make them comfortable and show them what it is I find so special about the two places that I chose to live in.

I like the good things in life: an interesting conversation with friends, a good laugh and a glass of wine, or tequila to go with it. All kinds of Art, expressions of creativity, music, especially Latin & African rhythms, but also Opera.
But mostly I enjoy the quiet, natural surroundings, the gardens and the views both of my places offer. It brings me peace and happiness.
