We were only on the island of Pico for 3 nights but felt very looked after.
We were kindly picked up from the airport and shown around the vicinity, and as we didn't arrive till 6pm ish, Eduardo also dropped us off to the supermarket.
We did have a bit of a language barrier as neither of us could speak each other's language but this wasn't to much of an issue as his son used whatsap and phone to communicate with us, if there was anything to tell us, or if we needed anything to just ask, this worked quite well, they also gave us their Aunt's number in case there was any problem or if we needed any advice on trips and about the island.
We were very thankful of the food put in the fridge and fresh fruit and bread etc, which was a very nice touch. Their grapes and figs were delicious!
The apartment was well equipped with all that you needed, and very clean, and loved that fact that we could look at the sea particularly in the evenings, after being out all day.
There is a small local bar close to the apartment, along with a natural swimming pool, and if you have a car, which is advisable the main town Madalena is about 10 mins and the local supermarket less.
You can get to most places of the island via the main roads and secondary which are very good, the smaller roads are abit more confusing!
There's quite a cool bar on the way to Madalena called the Cellar Bar, with views across the sea, they have a huge collection of Pico's own wine, we didn't get to try the main dishes due to timings, but had a few of their bar snacks which were very tasty.
We unfortunately didn't stay long enough as there was more to see, so 4/5 days would be a good especially if you visiting other islands and only have a short time.
We definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, they were very kind and went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. Such friendly people.
