Our cottage is in the beautiful, tree-lined suburb of Parkview, close to Parkhurst, Rosebank, Sandton and all points of interest. It's perfect for couples visiting Joburg or anyone on a business trip who is fed up with corporate hotel rooms! It has an open plan living room and kitchen/dining area and separate bedroom and bathroom. And you're a block away from Parkview's great local high street on Tyrone Ave.
My aim is to make the cottage somewhere I would love to stay when I am traveling, and I have high standards!
The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer, stove, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, crockery and cookware. The living area has a flat screen tv with cable channels and there is fiber optic internet and wifi in the cottage. There is a separate double bedroom with French doors looking onto a lovely rose garden and a separate full bathroom and ample closet/wardrobe space.
High quality bed linens and towels are provided and changed regularly during your stay.
The cottage and our house share the front gate but the entrance area of the cottage has its own private patio and shrub garden.
I'm also a foodie and cook and I am happy to offer B&B, half board or full board options on request.
There is also a pool on the main property that can be used in summer.
Laundry can be washed upon request or there is a great full service launderette a block away on Tyrone Avenue.
Interaction with guests
We respect our guests' privacy but we also want all guests to feel at home, so we are always available to advise on any queries or just for a chat.
If you've come to South Africa for safari to spot the Big Five, you might be able to add our "Little Three" dogs - chihuahuas Pablo and Fred and shiba inu Sue (she's the photo. bomber in my profile picture!) - to your sightings if you spot them in the garden from the bedroom window. However they can't access the apartment or its garden/patio unless you let them in.
Check-in is at 2pm, and check-out is by 11am. Arriving slightly earlier, or want that extra hour to sleep? Should be fine, but please check with us first.
Whilst we do a thorough professional clean between each guest stay, we kindly ask that prior to leaving, you clean and put away any dishes or kitchenware used and put any dirty towels in the hamper. It helps us get through our cleaning process quicker and allows us to keep cleaning costs down for you and future guests.
To keep our costs down (and pass those savings on to our guests) we kindly ask that you switch off lights and heating when its not in use or leaving the cottage. Mother nature thanks you too!
We ask that you kindly respect our maximum occupancy requirement. We have this in place instead of an additional guest charge in an attempt to keep costs down for you.
In the event that you want to invite visitors to the cottage please contact us to let us know first. We ask that no undisclosed guests visit or stay overnight on the property. Parkview is a safe suburb, but security is a concern in Joburg and we take yours and our safety seriously.
To ensure full safety of our guests, we keep the front gate locked at all times. Whilst being one of the safest areas of town, we want to ensure every guest stay remains problem free, and this is just one small + simple thing we’re able to do to ensure that.
What you do in your personal time is entirely up to you, but when staying at our place we have a strict no drug use policy.
We understand a lot of our guests are busy professionals. Need to catch up on emails or polish your presentation during your stay? Not a problem. But we ask that you do not conduct business meetings or solicit any business (of any type) on the cottage or property. The local Parkview coffee shops are a great location for business meetings over coffee and lots of entrepreneurs work from there so it's also a great spot form networking!
The easiest way to disrupt an enjoyable stay is a plumbing problem. To prevent this, we kindly ask you to please place things like sanity napkins in the sanitary bin we’ve provided in the bathroom.
If you’re coming to Joburg to party you’ve picked a great city to do so. Unfortunately, just not at our place. Parkview is a residential neighborhood, and we ask that guests keep music, tv and noise to appropriate levels between 9pm and 7am. Though we’re sure it won’t come to it, serious unruly behavior will unfortunately result in you being asked to leave. Not good for you. Not good for us.
I'm Irish but I've spent the last 10 years living in Mexico, Brazil, the USA and now South Africa following my partner Myles's job. We love to travel, meet new people and to welcome friends both old and new to our home.
We hope to see you soon!
