One of just six farmhouses in the rural parish of Gratton, Dale End House is found on a quiet lane between Elton and Youlgreave. It enjoys unspoilt countryside, popular with walkers and mountain bikers alike yet is only six miles from Bakewell and Matlock.

We discovered Dale End House whilst mountain biking through Gratton Dale and instantly fell in love with it. Surrounded by breath-taking views, and abundant wildlife - Gratton is one of Derbyshire’s best-kept secrets.

The space
Self-catering accommodation is available within the grounds of this fine Grade II listed Derbyshire long house. Both The Barn & The Lodge overlook a courtyard with ducks and chickens, but are separated from each other by a traditional 2 storey stable block running through the middle of the old farmyard, adding to the privacy both buildings provide. These properties have unspoilt views over open fields, with sheep and scattered trees on the hillside and a babbling brook. We have lovingly restored The Lodge and The Barn to an exceptionally high standard. Both have large open plan lounges with sofas and TV, a dining area and ensuite shower rooms. Under floor heating throughout. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a place to celebrate a special occasion with a large group of family or friends, or a base for walking and cycling we are sure that you will love The Lodge and The Barn at Dale End House.

Where you’ll be

Derbyshire, England, United Kingdom

Gratton is one of the Peak Districts best kept secrets. Just 5 miles from Bakewell, yet we are tucked away in a stunning valley, with just a few remote farmhouses for neighbours.

Footpaths and quiet lanes to walk and cycle lead straight from the front door.

During your stay

We live in the old farmhouse, just across the courtyard from The Lodge. The Barn cannot be seen from the house - you have your own private driveway, garden, front door etc etc. We live on site and are around if you have any questions...but equally we'll leave you to it. We walk, cycle, mountain bike, climb, paraglide, eat in local pubs and restaurants if you need any suggestions, just ask!
