An 18th-century simple rustic farmhouse situated in a shallow mountainous valley of olive groves, and surrounded by 54 hectares of olive and almond orchards, vineyards and pine forest. We’re a working family farm, trying to restore, revitalise and optimise our centuries-old farmland by using “modern” organic gardening techniques. We’d love to share this with you — our land, our home, the clean air, our quiet peaceful way of living — all with comfort and a sense of whimsical adventure.

We’re modern day homesteaders, pioneering in deep Spain, which has now become our beloved home and way of life. We’re living a sustainable, regenerative, and as close to off-grid lifestyle as possible. Respecting and honouring mother earth and the rhythms of nature, trying to do our part in the face of ongoing climate change.

Guest access
Hidden deep in the mountains of the Matarraña, Spain (often referred to as the Tuscany of Spain), our 18th-century stone farmhouse and glamping area offers you a cozy retreat to rest and re-energize both your body and mind by simply reconnecting with nature. You’ll be surrounded by nature: Terraces of olive groves that both ascend up into surrounding pine forest, and tumble down into fields of alfalfa and yet more olive trees. Walk beyond the olives and you’ll reach almond orchards and vineyards — Garnacha, Moscatel, Cabernet Sauvignon. Sleep under a million stars and wake to the hum of pure nature.

Other things to note
As part of your stay with us, you’ll wake up to a scrumptious breakfast, replete with hot coffee or tea, fresh baked bread, homemade fig jam, local honey, fresh pastured eggs from our chickens, local Teruel ham and seasonal fruit.

Location

Valderrobres, Aragón, Spain

We live about seven kilometres outside of Matarraña’s most populated village, Valderrobres, with its approximately 2,500 inhabitants. Incidentally, Valderrobres has been declared one of Spain’s most beautiful villages, with its 7th-century in-tact castle and its old city’s picturesque narrow cobblestone streets. Matarraña is a local administrative region (know as a comarca) that is part of the province of Teruel, which is then part of Aragon — one of Spain’s 17 autonomous communities. Valderrobes is about a three-hour drive from either Barcelona or Valencia, and about a 4 ½-hour drive east of Madrid.

Our farmhouse is situated up a winding paved and well-laid dirt road that twists around olive and almond orchards. We like to think of ourselves as “hidden” because we really are quite far from any other property, and our farmhouse is set low and almost hidden from sight by an enormous, fantastically beautiful serpentine-like pine tree.

American mother of three, living in Spain. Trying to live as sustainably as possible -- solar panels, re-using grey water, compost toilet, growing as much food as we can. Greening my children. :)
