Newly refurbished cabin just 5km from Kirkjubæjarklaustur town. Nearly in the middle between Vik (Reynisfjara) and Jokulsarlon (Glacier lagoon)

The cabin is in a unique landscape called Pseudo Craters. "Landbrotshólar". It is a unique volcanic landform. Pseudo craters form when lava flows into rivers or wetlands. The age and origin of the lava of Landbrotshólar has been debated, but it is believed now to have originated from the volcanic eruption of Eldgjá in 934

The space

The cabin has two bedrooms, bedroom one has two single beds and bedroom two has one queen size bed. On the loft we have a sofa bed, that can accommodate 1 adult or 2 children. It is 140cm. So it could fit 2 adults who do not mind to share it :)

It has an open are with Kitchen, living room and dining area. It is about 60sq m. The cabin is simple, with nice decor.

It has a nice porch and a stunning view of the Pseudo Craters all around the cabin.

It does not have a washing machine. And it is not easy to get clothes washed in the area.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the whole house. Outside on the porch there is a barbecue grill for guests to use.

Interaction with guests

We live in Reykjavik and we only use the cabin partly during the year. The reason we bought the cabin is that one of our family members is a farmer in the area, so that we would have a place to stay when we visit. Our family member will take care of the house when we are not there so if something is missing or you need help with anything we have someone around that can help.

Other things to note

We would recommend the cabin for 4 adults, and 1 or 2 children. The sofa bed on the loft is quite comfortable and the beds in the house are brand new and very comfortable. The stair to the loft is quite steep, so one has to be careful when accessing the loft.

Very very very very awesome cabin!!! So clean, modern, hip and exactly like the pictures! Everything you need in a lovely secluded area of Iceland. Despite the sign being a little small to get to it, everything was phenomenal. Spot to park rental cars, cute porch / deck with a table and BBQ, kitchen very clean and fully stocked with pans, cutlery, bowls, plates, toaster, etc. Bedrooms very tidy and full duvet covers. Very fluffy bedding and pillows. The living room has a very comfy couch to just hang out on. Also the loft has a bed and overlooks the downstairs + remarkable view outside of the Iceland landscape! So lovely. Would come back in a heart beat.

Everything about this place made our trip so much more enjoyable. I wasn't sure what to expect from an AirBnB in Iceland, but our time spend here was by far the best experience! This location is great for spending a few days at while traveling around the south coast; it may even become my primary destination for my next Iceland trip. We stayed in the middle of September and really enjoyed having a cozy place to return to each night after being out in the rain and wind. Our host, Ranny, kept in contact with us throughout or time there and made sure everything was perfect for us. We had some severe weather in the forecast for the day we were set to leave for Reykjavik, and she made sure to give us the most up to date information about road conditions and made sure we could travel safely. We were so grateful to have stayed here and have Ranny as a host, I highly recommend staying here. I already miss it. Until next time, thanks again Ranny! :)
