This building called Wilcuma Lodge. It was built in 1904. It was landmark of cowichan valley in 1950s. John Wayne and lots of famous Hollywood movie stars had lived in this house for holiday. Hope you will like this historical building. If in cowichan bay, I can pick you up.

Great place to stay and will be even better once it's restored. Cleaning could be done better but you won't mind staying here if you are not a neat frak

My husband and I looked for a last minute AirBnB room, and Zhengfu welcomed us with open arms. His home is beyond amazing!! True to the description, it isn't a new fancy place, but the home is an absolutely gorgeous character home overlooking the bay, and at the end of a very quiet street. Zhengfu was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and his wife proudly made us the best cappuccino we've had in months!! We were absolutely blown away by both the hospitality and our stay - we honestly haven't gotten such an incredible night's sleep in months! I can't recommend Zhengfu's home enough!!

This is a very old building for the area and is in a quiet and secluded location. It does need some updating, but for the price it is an excellent deal. The bathroom we had has been updated and was excellent. If you want a 5-star place go somewhere else. If you want peace & quiet, some history, a gracious host, and a million dollar view, come here. If I needed a place to write a book or take time to refresh in nature, I would come here.

Zhou is a very nice young man and greets you with much enthusiasm. He will even share fruit and a small beverage with you on arrival. Probably an oversight, but towels from the previous guest was left in the bathroom. I would suggest that you request hand soap, a hand towel and extra towels as the shower is very small (cupboard-like) and water will unfortunately spill from the shower recess. You will need something to mop up the fluid. The room itself was a magnificent example of a bygone era but there were no curtains in the bathroom or the suite itself - this could be confronting to some and not great if you are wanting a restful sleep or to sleep a little later. The sun was up at 5am and so was I! Clarify the use of the kitchen and where things are so that it doesn't feel like an imposition to use its facilities. Although checkin was listed as 2pm, make sure to check with Zhou that he will be there. I was promised a key and none was to be found when I arrived just after 2pm. The building, although charming, is in need of loving restoration and it would be great to see it in a couple of years. For now, it's quite adequate but I feel it's a little pricey for the bare minimum you are provided with. It is definitely a quiet and lovely location and I was fortunate to be given the option of one of two rooms - the one with the water view was really nice and s pleasure to behold. I fell that in time they this place will improve with time and constructive feedback from guests.

an older lodge that is in a beautiful location, must have been amazing in it's heyday. Zhao was very hospitable.
