10 x 10 tenting pad nestled between 2 large creeks on a little peninsula in the forest. Listen to the creeks as you fall asleep...they're only a few feet away! Bring your own tent and camp supplies. 10 minutes drive west of Nelson. Wifi and full shared bathroom available 24/7 in the main residence waiting area. Please read detailed descriptions before booking as this is a non conforming accommodation. Animal lovers will enjoy meeting our sanctuary animals :)

The space
10x10 tent pad on a small peninsula in the forest!
Shared full bathroom is just inside the front door of the main residence 1 minute walk away through the woods. W/D and wifi available in the main house waiting area too.

The tent pad is about 15 meters away from Rixen creek mini cottage (which is fully hidden by trees) and 10 meters behind the main residence which is across the creek and partially concealed by trees and a privacy shade. The tent pad is accessed on foot - 1 or 2 minute walk from parking area.

ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING. NO CAMPFIRES OR ANYTHING THAT USES A FLAME. Please don't book this site if you are a smoker of anything. Camp stoves permitted in the garden on the picnic table only.

No access to kitchen, fridge, or cooking facilities. If you have a camp stove it can be used in the garden, NOT in the forest near the tent pad.

Emergency landline phone is available in the main house, upstairs in the octagon window. For emergencies only please. (There is no cell service here, closest cell service is a 2 minute drive down to the highway.)

Guests must be bear aware and keep food either in their vehicle or stashed in the main residence waiting area. Please don't keep food in the tenting area at night. Bear spray provided if you like but unlikely you'll need it.

During spring melt ( May/early June) and rainy times the creeks may be fairly loud.

No dogs! We don't make exceptions to this.

Guest access
Guests have a private tent pad and peninsula. Shared full bathroom, w/d are one minute walk from the tent pad.

Other things to note
Wifi is available in the main residence waiting area.
No cell service but there's an emergency phone in the main residence.
Wildlife is common. We keep a bear spray by the lamp by the front door if you want to borrow it but nobody has ever needed it.
The creeks may be louder during times of heavy rain and in May.
Water from Rixen creek is great for drinking. Its supplies water to the whole community. In the creek is also a good place to keep your drinks cool.
As of July 2019 we are operating a small farm sanctuary. Guests are welcome to meet and hang out our animals :)

I've lived in Nelson all my life. I own a music school in Nelson and teach piano lessons downtown. I designed and built the mini cottages myself as fun hobby projects. When I'm at home I'm usually busy working on home projects or out in the garden. In 2019 I started a small farm sanctuary...guests can visit the animals between April and November ( but the animals spend the winters at another farm).
