Muco and her mom are definitely the most adorable hosts I've had. During the month that my friend Paddy and I spent at their place while working on our master's research, they made us feel like part of the family. Breakfast was included, but we also arranged to have lunch and dinner meals - all of them really good and abundant. They even asked us what was our preferred type of food to accommodate to our needs. We also had our own fridge to keep our own snacks and groceries for when we wanted to cook for ourselves. They keep the apartment spotless. They cleaned our rooms and changed our sheets twice a week, and help us with laundry as well.
The apartment is on a third floor of a building with 24/7 security at the gate. The apartment is a 3-min walk to the Adlife Mall (News Cafe in it is a great spot to have a coffee and work; also there's a good supermarket for grocery shopping) and a 4-min walk to Yaya Center (banks, ATMs, cafes, and Safaricom for SIM cards). An Uber ride to the center is $3, to Upper Hill $2.5 and to Westlands $3.5.
During our stay, Ngong road behind the building was under construction, so the area got pretty dusty during the day. Also, there were a couple of bars behind the building with music at night that could be heard from one of the rooms. Muco was kind enough to suggest and give us the quiet rooms.
Our research work and life in Nairobi was made so much easier by staying with them. I can't thank them enough!
