Hike, ATV, kayak or go river rafting! Click on the red "+ More" below. YOU MUST READ ENTIRE AD BEFORE BOOKING (EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN BEFORE)! Check our other ads under #1 or #2. WEEKENDS 2 NIGHT MIN, LONG WEEKENDS ARE A MIN. 3 NIGHT STAY. MUST GIVE NAMES OF ALL OCCUPANTS PLEASE.

The space
THIS IS CABIN #3, "The Rodfathers"

This cabin is the smallest, newest & cutest, & is right next to Cabin 1. You can park directly behind it.

Please list the names of all occupants when doing your reservation.

There are 3 TINY(!) rustic cabins in the forest here, each with 2 tiny bedrooms. These are suitable for sportspersons, or people that just want to de-stress &/or get back to nature.

We are disinfecting surfaces between guests, and we require that you cover the beds with your own sheets & bring a spray disinfectant for using the outhouse.

***YOU MUST READ THE WHOLE AD CAREFULLY & AGREE TO ALL RULES BEFORE BOOKING!  (They are on the Airbnb site that these are booked through).

***There is NO RUNNING WATER!  (no, not even in the port-a-potty!) NO INTERNET! NO TV! NO ELECTRICITY!!  The Fido/Rodgers network does work here & we have put in a cell phone booster for the other networks above the stairs to the beach.

These are TINY, RUSTIC sleeping cabins ***DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE FISHERMEN & HUNTERS!!!  VERY BASIC back to nature (think wooden tent with a wood stove, that you can cook on), a  futon, a small table, night stand, 2 or 3 chairs & beds only!)  No pots, pans, dish ware, utensils or bedding.
You can also cook over your campfire (as long as there isn't a fire ban in place).
Although they will sleep 6 - 7, it is very crowded with that many. The furniture is not meant to be featured in Better Homes & Gardens!  There is damage & stains on tables & on the linoleum etc.   Each cabin has a small deck, an outside fire pit & outdoor table & chairs.
We can supply an outdoor solar shower (only good for the warm seasons), that you can fill from the river or waterfall. There is a deposit, just ask the camp host for it.

There is a port-a-potty (that smells like one!). It is kept locked to ensure it is only used by the people in the cabins as there is only one there. The key is on the cabin key ring.
You must bring your own toilet paper & it can't be left in the outhouse as mice will shred it!
USE ONLY THE PORTA POTTY FOR YOUR BUSINESS!  ***If you are one of those people who think it's ok to go in the bush & leave your toilet paper etc - DON'T COME HERE!  It's so disgusting having to pick that up & we will levy a $50. charge if we have to do that! (We have had to put in night vision game cameras down there because of that).   Portable toilets are sometimes available for rent to put in the cabin if you prefer, (but must be cleaned out before returning them).

You supply your own sleeping bags, cooking supplies, lantern(s), toilet paper & firewood. Basically everything that you need for tenting (except we have furniture).

CANDLES: Unfortunately due to careless people, we've had curtains caught on fire & wax dripped all over the floors, walls & furniture. If this happens, there will be a sizable extra charge, so make sure they are in proper containers that can't drip the wax! If this doesn't work, we will have to ban them altogether.

If it is rainy when you are there, you are welcome to bring a tarp & rope to tie from the deck of the cabin to the trees across from it.

You can purchase firewood here from the camp host, it's $8 for a good-sized bag.
***PLEASE NOTE: No construction materials (ie wood ends etc) to be used in the wood stove, outside in the fire-pit is fine, but NO NAILS!

These are NOT SUITABLE FOR NEGATIVE OR FINICKY PEOPLE OR CLEAN FREAKS! When people ignore this requirement & come anyway, they tend to bring my ratings down (which I read). I get annoyed especially if they give less than 5 stars for "Check In" as they are clearly listed as self check-in!! They just have to walk in the door! The Cabin #s & names are on them & the key is inside!

These are NOT like city motel rooms!  (You may even see dust bunnies as it's very difficult to clean under the beds in the VERY tiny bedrooms!)  These are also not for people worried about outhouse smells, occasional mice etc.
If you are looking for something more like a motel room, we have a couple of large ensuite bedrooms in our home also listed on Airbnb, which may be more suitable!

Visitors are not permitted. If you have someone that wants to come in, they must be included in your reservation.

PETS: Because these are not pristine, we don't have a problem with people bringing their QUIET, well mannered pets that don’t bark at people or other dogs going by you cabin, and are leashed  & picked up after!   People must be able to go by your cabin without having to worry about your dog or get barked at (many are afraid of them).  They also are NOT PERMITTED ON THE FURNITURE (there is a minimum $25. charge if they do). Cabin 2 would be most suitable if your dog is going to get upset about others walking by. There is 1 crib side in the cabin area that can be used as a gate for the deck if you wish.
Surprisingly, we have very few mosquitoes here.  Mice & other rodents & insects live outside, & they may occasionally poop on the deck & there may be cobwebs out there as well.  It is swept off regularly, but they return regularly!  When people leave the door open, mice can get in & we can't prevent that (although we have very little problem with them)!  Please DO NOT BOOK if these things are upsetting to you!!!

WILDLIFE: There are black & brown bears, cougars, lynx, deer etc. It is highly unlikely that you will see any if you are making any noise as none of them want to see you. (We actually try to see them!) Black & brown bears are dangerous if you corner them or pose a threat to their young, if they hear you, they get out of your way.
Grizzly bears are the really dangerous bears & they live up in the colder regions of our province.
Children should not be going around unattended however as they may be cougar bait, although it is uncommon.

We are in the Tamihi Recreational area, which is well-known and very popular especially to (salmon & trout) fishermen, hikers, ATV’ers & whitewater kayakers!
This area is highly desirable because of the natural beauty, the beach, the unlimited hiking & off roading trails/roads, the Class II  to IV rapids as well as the extremely good fishing spot!
The Trans Canada Trail runs along two sides of our property and one way goes up to Windy Knob, a 5 1/2 hour hike which offers great views of the surrounding mountains as well as the city, or you can continue there & add another couple of peaks for a full day hike.  Please email me if you wish the info on the hikes.
ATV'S: Idle in, Idle out! There is no riding around the property or campground, so as not to disturb others. Straight in or out the gate only
The large pond is not for swimming (the bottom is quite muddy), but people do swim in the river on our large beach (about a 5 minute walk) on our beach in the later summer & fall!
Unfortunately, our little rowboat there, (The Lamberdinghy), has been damaged so it is not useable at the moment. We are looking to find someone that knows how to fibreglass a couple of spots for us (we’ll pay!)

The garbage policy is "Pack It In, Pack It Out".  You may leave recyclables & burn anything ok to be burned (outside only except paper) (if no fire ban).

They are not permitted in the cabin area, you can call to book a self-contained unit in the campground.

NOISE: One person (out of 900+) has complained about gunfire in the distance. (There is a shooting range a few blocks away that some can hear).

***IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS PLEASE ALERT OUR CAMP HOST!  (at the trailer closest to our gate) or give us a call (the # is listed on your reservation).  If you can't get the camp host and can't get us on the phone either, you can continue up the hill to our house (after the barn & garage).
***Do NOT complain about it afterwards or ask for your money back if you haven't given us a chance first to correct any problems.

**Please alert the camp host immediately if the cabin doesn't appear clean!

We expect you to leave your honest review, rating it as a rustic fishermen's cabin, NOT COMPARING THEM TO A HOTEL OR MOTEL, as that isn't what you're booking!
If you have ignored what we have put on our ad, don't complain about it after!  I understand if you feel they don't have enough value or are otherwise not suitable for you, however I would expect that you not want to return if you feel that way.

For those that want cheaper, Cabin 3 is the least expensive (it is the middle one & is smaller).  As the demand is very high, Fridays  & Saturdays are the most expensive. The price goes down in low season as well.

Anyone coming on the property accepts all liability and risks for themselves their guests & and pets.

Where you’ll be

Fraser Valley E, British Columbia, Canada

We are situated in the Tamihi Recreational area on the Chilliwack River with 2 excellent fishing spots, (1 is off our beach), unlimited mountain trails & logging roads for horses, 4 x 4s, mountain bikers/hikers, & fantastic area for white water kayaking! 3 sides are heavily forested, with the Chilliwack River on the 4th side & we are at the base of Church Mountain (1714 m) There a little waterfall nearby, & is very peaceful & serene.
Now for the bad! As we are deep in the forest, you have to go 2.8 kms down a forest service road (quite flat & easily accessible by car) which sometimes (especially during the winter & spring) can have potholes!

To get to the beach, go over the little footbridge & turn right & go until you see the field, go to the far end of the covered picnic area & the stairs to the beach are there.

The Camp Host is in the trailer just inside the gate if there are any problems or if you need firewood.
We live on the property (a few minutes up the mountain) & are available most of the time, especially by phone, email or text msg! If you can't reach us, or the host, just come up the hill to the main house.
