This is a first floor apartment in a duplex on a country road with beautiful views yet only six miles from Montpelier with its ecletic stores and restaurants. We are an easy drive to the year-round resort areas of Stowe, Sugarbush and Bolton, and Vermont's well known local beer pubs. We welcome guests from all backgrounds.

The space

There is a good size kitchen open to the living/dining room. The usual spices, oil and vinegar, coffee and teas, creamer and sugar are provided.

Guest access

The guests have their own entry, front and back. In the Winter after we have had snow, guests will use the back door off the deck. There is a nice front porch and lawn, facing the sunsets and mountains. There is also a back deck. The back yard is shared with another tenant who lives in the duplex.

Interaction with guests

We live on the same road and one of us is usually around. Also, you can text us with any questions. I like to come over and say hello when you first come - usually you can let yourselves in and then text or call me. There maybe times when I'm not home at that hour.

Other things to note

It's a good idea to stop at Shaw's Market when you go through town on your way to our apartment. For essentials, beer and wine, there is the Adamant CoOp a few miles away. It is on Haggatt Road, off County. Take a left off Horn of the Moon Road onto County and Haggatt is first right. Go about 2 miles to Adamant. Beautiful spot!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Country Cape and look forward to returning next year. It's quintessential rural Vermont with an absolutely beautiful view to the west. The kitchen was well equipped and perfect for holiday meal preparation. John and Molly were also perfect hosts.

Absolutely stunning, bright, cheery and cozy little place. The location is absolutely so very perfect, as this charming house is located about two miles down soft dirt roads that lend to beautiful countryside and lots of peace and quiet. The views from the House are absolutely stunning and so much beautiful light and energy enters through its many windows. The kitchen was adorable and truly had everything one would need. The beds were super comfy as well as the pillows, and the sheets and towels smelled so fresh and lovely! It was so nice to be in the middle of nowhere, but only a 12 minute drive from the beautiful town of Montpelier, where tons of beautiful cafes, restaurants, stores, and small town bustle was in plenty! From here you are less than an hour from Stowe and Smugglers Notch, Mad River Glen Area, Sugarbush, etc...where hiking and of course skiing is abundant!! I feel like within a 45 minute drive in any direction you could find so much nature and adventure to enjoy and explore. House was immaculate and really just so pretty! I feel in love with the kitchen and wanted to take it home with me! Hehehe. Tons and tons of thanks! I hope many more travelers pass through this perfect space in the future!!

Thank you so much, Mallory! It makes me so happy to know when guests really enjoyed the space and the quiet of the country. My husband and I lived in the apartment and designed the kitchen so I'm glad you liked it so much!

We would definitely recommend a stay at the Country Cape cottage. It was charming, rustic and very comfortable. The view was beautiful and the hosts were gracious. We really appreciated the dozen fresh eggs they gave us and the small bottle of homemade maple syrup. My 4 and 7 year olds loved having their own beds and having toys to play with and some movies to watch in the evenings. We very much felt like we were experiencing a small slice of Vermont while staying here.

The County Cape has a delightful view off the front porch and was absolutely perfect for our escape to the woods. While only 15 minutes max from Montpelier it very much felt like a get-a-away we wanted. Molly and John were extremely gracious and we would love to come back!

The place was fantastic! Molly was a wonderful host. She provided information regarding trails in the area for me. The trails were amazing. The house was clean, cheerful, and had everything to make my stay comfortable. I look forward to returning for another great vacation!

I am an enthusiastic traveler myself and try to stay in houses and apartments whereever I travel. I have tried to think of many things that will make my guests comfortable while staying in my Country Cape. I enjoy writing, reading, gardening, cooking, visiting friends and spending time with my dachshund, Louie. My husband and I are transplants to Vermont and love its scenery and its culture.
