About this listing

Live aboard a beautiful 38' Sabre sailboat in a sheltered harbour in Bermuda! You will have the whole boat to yourself and will be located right in the middle of the historic Royal Naval Dockyard. There are restaurants, pubs, a shopping centre, the National Museum, mini-golf, a beach and much more literally within throwing distance or a five minute walk maximum. Buses to the famous beaches stop right outside the dock gate and the ferries to Hamilton and St Georges are here too!

The space

Please be aware that living on a boat is not the same as staying in a house or apartment: it is a bit of an adventure! The first thing you will notice is the marine toilet - this is brand new and works perfectly but it flushes differently. However, instructions are posted and easy to follow - you will get the hang of it very quickly. Also, the water pressure for the shower comes from a small pump on board so will not be as strong as you are probably used to ashore - but again, it works fine. There is also a men's and women's shower on shore at the marina that you can use. The space below is small but it really is all a couple need. Be aware that if you bring big suitcases it may be difficult to find a space to stow them away! However, my wife and I have been living onboard for three years and we're still together! It's lovely to feel the boat rock gently and we're in a very sheltered harbour so it is never uncomfortable. You can sunbathe on deck or in the cockpit and swim right off the boat. We have a sunshade over the cockpit if it's too hot and A/C down below.

Guest access

Guests will have the whole boat to themselves.

Interaction with guests

I will be away in Canada visiting family but my co-host Sue is living just two boats away from you on our dock. She and two other boats are the only live-aboards on the dock (the other boats are usually only used on weekends). The dock community is friendly but very respectful of privacy. You may hear some music in the distance from the bars and cruise ships here in Dockyard but we keep it very peaceful on the dock.

What an awesome experience being rocked to sleep each night! This was a very spontaneous trip and all of Sue's suggestions were spot on and fabulous! Location was perfect for public transportation to explore the rest of the island!

Stayed 4 nights on Harvey's boat and we had a wonderful time! It was perfect for our needs. This was our 4th trip to Bermuda and we always rent a scooter and explore. The boat had AC, small fans, wifi, small refrigerator and kitchen. We didn't use the kitchen but it was well equipped with dishes, spices, milk, coffee maker and a Brita filter. We opted for the marina showers which were only a few steps away. The pictures are accurate and Sue was a lovely host! She was always available to answer questions and was very communicative. She would stop by and check in on us at the end of the day to be sure we didn't need more towels, etc. We let her know there was a sulfer smell from the bathroom and she went over and pumped several times informing us this was the best way due to the boat's pipe system. Upon hearing our concern, Harvey graciously refunded a night's stay since we were unaware this is a common occurrence on a boat. It was completely unnecessary but certainly appreciated. We highly recommend this boat for anyone wanting to visit Bermuda but no need to stay on a resort and pay those high fees. The boat has everything you need!

I can't thank Harvey enough for allowing us to stay on his sailboat! It just doesn't get better than this in Bermuda! Private, peaceful, everything we needed. Loved being able to jump in the water whenever we wanted. Great host! We will definitely stay here again!

This boat is not AT ALL what it is advertised to be. My wife and her GF stayed on this mess 3 nights, and it went from bad to much, much worse by the time they left. The deck in the cabin was soft and mushy, and there was water leaking down the main mast inside the cabin. The smell inside the boat was bad when they arrived, and got progressively worse as time went on, to the point that they had to sleep outside on the last night. The bilge had smelly, rancid water with god knows what else in it ( we looked down in it and there was a lot of mold that the owner claimed was a build-up of grease/oil/dirt. Either way, it was HORRID!!) The bilge pump never came on. The head was a stinking mess and never properly worked. We contacted the owner after our trip to give him an opportunity to make this right, and he offered only excuses and platitudes and did not offer to refund one dime of our wasted money. Bermuda is a beautiful and fun place, and the location was awesome, but this boat is a stinking, filthy, spongy-floored MESS and a real safety hazard! BEWARE!!!!!

I loved staying on the boat! It's cozy and really comfortable. The location is great, very close to the Dockyards mall, Americas Cup Village, and the ferry terminal. All around great deal.
