The "Refugio" is a quintessential cabin retreat to escape the city and base camp to explore the wonders of Whidbey Island. We created this cabin from an existing shelter with the vision of refuge, peace and solstice for those who stay. It's a simple, off the grid space located in the back 40 of Landmark Farm. A peaceful pastoral setting, ideal for meditation, writing, relaxing and rejuvinating.

The space
The Refugio, is an essential "glamping" camping space. You provide your camping comforts including your sleeping bag, sleeping pad and all gear needed to camp. We provide the peaceful space. There is a bucket composting toilet in back of the cabin. Other amenities include: full size futon bed (camp quality), wood stove, built-in wall table with stools, tea kettle, propane camp stove, mugs, tea, fire pit, camp chairs, hammock, solar lights, & wood, kindling, matches, yoga mat. Solar sun shower, rain barrel water collection system. Future plans are for an on demand propane outdoor shower by the well house. Stay tuned.

Guest access
Access to the Refugio is by foot. I have provided a garden cart for you to transport your gear from parking in the front of the property to the cabin. Distance is approximately 150 yards. Mowed paths with solar lights lead you to the cabin. There is a path - trail parallels the property fence line. Follow the signs.

Other things to note
The Refugio cabin is off-the grid. There is no running water, electricity or Wifi. Expectations of our guests is to pack it in, pack it out and "leave no trace" on departure. We thank you in advance for respecting nature, the cabin and surrounding property. There is a trash and recycle bin in the parking space.

Additional amenities include: 5 gallon potable water jug, Rain barrel water collection system, solar shower system, propane camp stove, TP, paper towels, roasting sticks, wine bottle opener, can opener, dish soap, dish pan, hammock, cocoa, tea, matches, tea lights, firewood, solar lights provided for your comfort.

The Refugio cabin is located on Landmark Farm, situated in a quiet, rural neighborhood 1 mile from downtown Freeland. 5 acre property, pastoral views, surrounded by evergreen and alder trees.

Mutiny Bay beach is 1/2 mile from the property. Our favorite for a sandy beach walk & spectacular sunsets.

A country girl at heart. I love the simple things in life. I'm most at home in nature & the outdoors. I enjoy beach walks, running, biking, hiking, kayaking, sailing, camping, splitting wood, exploring new destinations & life experiences, and keeping up my small farm on Whidbey Island. I cherish the gathering of friends and family. The island offers an abundance of organic food, friendship, entertainment, activities, spirit & energy for all to enjoy and benefit. Quiet times include book reading, meditation, knitting, listening to music and snuggling with the one I love. I have been blessed to reside on Landmark Farm on Whidbey Island. I share the farm with my kitty, Sweet Pea, chickens, roosters and turkey. I live in the original 1916 farm house. I wish to extend the invitation to others by opening the guesthouse to Airbnb guests. Please come join me!
