The Treehouse is located on the top floor of Gator Lodge and offers a private patio with birds-eye view of the lake. Since Labor Day, the prevailing winds have blown the invasive plant, Giant Salvania, away from our area. You can canoe and fish to your heart's content. Our dock offers a fish light which draws the fish in at night so get ready to see some prehistoric looking fish during your visit!

The space

The Treehouse at Gator Lodge is a waterfront property with a large over-the-water deck attached to three bay boathouse. Very Private!

Elizabeth and Sam are wonderful hosts. The treehouse is perfect for a quiet, restful weekend. My initial plans were to go into town, however, once I arrived it was so peaceful that I spent the entire weekend on-site. Morning coffee in the porch swing, sunset from the dock, and a fully loaded kitchen that made cooking meals a breeze. I will definitely go back the next time I need a few days to escape and unwind.

This place is a great get-away for anyone looking to get back to nature in a cozy and un-fusy way. Our favorite thing about this place was how tranquil it was! We also loved being able to go out and play on the canoe. We thouroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to visit again.

I'll share the pros and cons we experienced. PROs: 1) The host is WONDERFUL. She let us know ahead of time that the invasive grass really has taken over the dock area, and we could cancel if this interfered with our plans. 2) THE HOUSE WAS SUPER CLEAN. I really enjoyed this aspect. It was also very roomy, which was a happy surprise. 3) We had rain, and the kids found a few puzzles that we all did together, one with very strangely shaped pieces that took us a long time (plus we didn't look at the picture to challenge ourselves.) We had a lot of fun waiting for the rain to pass! 4) The host had bug spray at the covered dock and on the porch, so we didn't need to run back into the house when the mosquitoes came a calling and we were able to enjoy the rains while sitting outside. 5) The treetop view and porch was FaBuLoUs and I loved just sitting there, looking at the moss covered trees. 6) The directions given to the remote location were perfect. 7) Quiet area, lots of sleeping spaces, clean linens and plenty of towels, free wifi. 8) Several different varieties of frogs sang to us each evening. Quite a lovely chorus. CONS: 1) Not being able to use the dock was disappointing, but they told us beforehand about the invasive grass, so we knew it was just a good place to rest and not canoe. (So really not a con, and I hope people will write the state to help out these residents who are paying lake side taxes with no access to the lake!) 2) The smell of mold inside. This was hard on my husband, who has allergies to mold. While I grew up visiting my grandma's house in a humid area with this musty odor and I am used to it, for those who are not prepared for it, it can be a challenge. For me, this was a non-issue. I loved the house, the view in the treetops, the prepared fire pit (though we couldn't use it due to rain) easy access to the covered deck and the roominess of the Treehouse apartment itself. But the mold made my husband miserable.

A great place to get away with a very hospitable hostess next door. Lize checked on us a few times to make sure everything was great. The place was very homey with a great view. We enjoyed the time outside in the evenings listening to the concert of frogs. It's in a quiet part of the lake about 20 minutes from Caddo Lake State Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend.
