My home is a traditional gated Bajan bungalow with a guard wall around the property and a front verandah which faces the Bridgetown Harbour. It is on a main road. There is easy access to the local taxis, called ZR vans, and blue government buses. The bus stop to Bridgetown is about 150 meters from the house.

A Little About Barbados...

Barbados is a colorful island retreat. Simply perfect for a getaway or an extended stay. The temperature is around 84 - 88 degrees F. The rainy season starts in September and ends in November. There are miles and miles of sandy beaches: Brandons,Brighton, Paradise and Batts Rock are all on the same stretch. Brandons is close to the Port. These beaches have aqua water and are quiet, and in my opinion under rated. Then there is the ever popular and busier Brown's Beach/Carlisle Bay just over the Bridge in Bridgetown. This is another long, white, sandy beach that goes all the way to the Hilton Hotel. Come stay, get away.

OceanView Living...

Whether you spend 4 nights, a week or a month here at OceanView you will be sad to leave. You'll find elegant fixtures, a fresh and new interior design inspired by classic settings, professionally designed by a Bajan architect and a Canadian interior designer.

Stay Play Getaway...

OceanView Vista overlooks the beautiful Bridgetown Port where all cruise liners dock. Lounge on our veranda to take in this sight. It is most spectacular at night during the tourist season which runs from November to April.
Swim, snorkel, scuba dive, sight see, hike - you name it, Barbados has it. There are myriad coral reefs to explore and sunken shipwrecks to view.

Our friendly property manager, Joan, will greet you on arrival and take you to the supermarket to get your groceries. You can always reach her by cell phone at any time if you need help.

Guest access

Guests have the run of the house! The property manager will help by taking you to supermarket and to 'Q in the Community' (a local hangout) for locals and tourists, and best of all, its free.

Interaction with guests

I am not usually at home when guests are there, but the property manager, Joan, keeps in close contact with guests. Jerry is our friendly taxi driver, available for airport transfer, short or longer trips.

Other things to note

There is a scenic ride on Sundays leaving Independence Square at 2 PM. The tour takes you to various venues around the island. You can take a picnic lunch with you.
Then there is the Mount Gay Visitor's Center on Spring Garden Highway. You'll get to sample Bajan rum. It is close to Brandon's Beach.
Make sure you visit Welchman Hally Gully, a botanical garden, and in the same area, Harrison's Cave.
St Nicholas Abbey is another 'must'.
This is an historic plantation house with a museum, a sugar and rum bond, a flower and herb garden and a gully.

Home is better than shown in pictures. Everything you need for your stay is well supplied. Bus service (Van) is very regular and you can get anywhere. Patsy and Joan are excellent hosts. You are in a residential area which is a great way to see the real Bajan life. The walk to the grocery store is about 10 minutes and the beach about 15. Not many restaurants near by but the Vans run constantly, just wave and they will stop anywhere.

Very good value for the money. Hotels in Barbados are very expensive and this home is a great option if you want to visit Barbados on a budget. The hosts (Patsy and Joan) are very nice and always willing to help out should you need information or ideas on what to do while here. The house is located in a fairly densely populated area and consequently there is traffic noise. Many people in the area own dogs that are kept outside at night and they will bark at all hours. It is a long walk to the beach, at least 20 minutes, but once there it is immaculate and not crowded at all. There is a bus stop 50 yards from the doorstep and you can pretty well go anywhere on the island for two bajan dollars per trip. Cable tv, internet and telecommunications all work very well.

Patsy's place suited us almost completely. It was well equipped, comfortable, and the information that she and Joan provided was exactlly what we needed. Public transit was an unexpected delight: the little mini vans just 4 houses down was a real treat and all the people who we met on our way to the beach could not have been more congenial. Our supermarket was as good as it gets, equivalent to anything we experienced in Arizona, and "our" beach (Brandon and Brighton) was as good as any on the island, without the crowds that the others have. We would only have liked the house to be a bit closer to that beach on the one hand, but on the other hand, we got our daily excercise just getting to it. It was a wonderful month that we spent in Patsy's house and it has left us with a very positive view of Barbados. Thank you, Patsy, Joan, and Jerry the taxi driver who introduced us to views of the island, dounks, and rock cakes.

This had been our families very first times renting a place off airbnb and decided to be extra cautious and only book a place with lots of great reviews & that's how we came across this one! Everything about this holiday exceeded our expectations! We had Patsy book a driver to help get us from the airport to the house the first day just to make sure we didn't end up lost. Jerry (our driver) is an amazing guy with such a great personality! He not only picked us up from the airport but also took us out for food and groceries to make sure we were good to go for the first couple of days as we had not rented a car at this point. Jerry made sure to show us around the area as well as tell us about the island and gave us recommendations for things we could do during our stay. Since Joan was out of town when arrived Patsy had set up her neighbour to let us in and make sure we settled into the house okay. During our stay there was also a bit of a storm where the power went out during the night and she made sure to double check to make sure we were alright. Which was extremely thoughtful of her! Patsy had also taken the time during her first day to send us a message and make sure we settled in alright. Absolutely everyone we met in Barbados was extremely kind and thoughtful, the people here are incredible always smiling and helping everyone! Our whole family was blown away by just how amazing this house was! It's so much bigger in person then it appears in any of the photos. The house has a great layout where the living room you see when you first enter flows nicely into the dining room and kitchen, down the hallway there's the two bedrooms which were both a great size. Down the hallway from the rooms there was also the washroom and even a little gym area! This home was really clean and organized and had absolutely anything anyone would ever need while on vacation. There were also fans that you could use if you found it to be too hot but we found that if you opened the doors and windows you could get a really nice breeze inside! The home was about 20/40 min walk depending on which beach you walked too (brandons or paradise beach were the ones we would walk to). You were also able to catch the bus which would take you right to them & the bus stop was a 1 or 2 min walk from the home which was really nice. We did end up renting a car later to explore the island some more so it was nice that the home had a huge parking area where we were able to leave the car. If you're looking for a place to rent a car during...

We just returned from two weeks at Grazettes Road and we loved it! The house is more spacious than it appears and has everything you need. The neighbours are quiet, although the street is busy with traffic and sitting on the front porch was entertaining. Joan met us at the airport, and was more than generous with her time. She took us to the local grocery store and the closest beach, as we wanted to walk and use local transit on the first week, which was wonderful and a lot of fun. If you want to experience a local neighbourhood and all that goes with it, this is a great place to do it! Nothing is that far away, the locals are friendly and helpful and we always felt safe. We had a rental car our second week and we went everywhere we could. We have been to a resort in Barbados and we decided to try this in part because Bajans are such wonderful and friendly people and we have no regrets at all! Although we did not meet Patsy, both she and Joan went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect stay in "our home away from home".

We stayed in Patsy's property for the New Year. We arrived on Dec 31st in the evening and Patsy arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport for $50BBD. Leslie, the property manager, was there to greet us upon arrival. He was kind enough to have a little care package of food to hold us off for the first night (bread, papaya, coffee, milk, juice, and wine!). The property was very nice and clean, and had all the amenities needed. Although we had a small hiccup during our first night, Leslie and his niece, June, managed to make sure the rest of our stay was most comfortable. Patsy was also quick to reach out to offer a solution. However, please remember that you are not in a tourist-centric neighborhood. Therefore, we recommend being vigilant as you would be at home. The reviews said the beach was a 10-minute walk, but we thought it was further away (more than 20 minutes). It's easier to hop on a ZR van or a city bus for $2BBD to reach the beach or the supermarket. However, when looking for the beach by foot, we got a chance to explore the neighborhood. We actually found a secluded part of Brighton Beach by mistake and it was out own spot of paradise (when arriving near the refineries, turn right and walk past the fishing boats). My friends and I would recommend Patsy's property if you are visiting the parish of St-Michael.

Monica's house is beautiful! Well done Monica... Us (2 couples) rented Ocean View Vista from Monica. Arrived in Barbados, picked up a car at airport and headed to the House. It's about 14KMs from airport but with a car you are there and back in no time. GPS is a must for the first couple days till you know the streets of the neighbourhood. You can see the Port/Ocean in the distance. Close to Brighton Beach.. We would say everything you need is a 10-20 min drive away! From Fast Food/Groceries to Beaches to Bars/Nighlife. We spent all our nights just hanging out on the porch just chatting away! We felt very at home in the house. During the day we were out, but all our evenings were spent at the house. Place is Modern and very homey, neighbours are nice and the bajan people very freindly, nothing to worry about at all! All four of us loved this house and will recommend it to anyone (and we will to our friends and family) Give this 5 out of 5

I'm a Bajan with English and Canadian connections, having lived approximately two decades in each place. I love travelling and engaging in fun escapades - sand dune bashing in Qatar, hiking in South Korea and Bali, scuba diving in Hawaii and snorkeling in Barbados, and willing to try new activities. I am energetic and sociable. I enjoy outdoor activities and usually hike and explore the neighborhoods I visit. When I travel I get around the city on foot and use local transport. I love cooking and am quite adept at conjuring up a variety of creative plant-based recipes using local fruits and veggies. I have a cousin who said, "Patsy eats anything that is green."
Oh, and one more hobby. Sewing! I buy fabric as souvenirs and make my own clothes.
My home is cozy and welcoming. I'm a friendly host and will do my best to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one.
My life motto? "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
