Self-contained individual little bungalow. This cabin offers expansive views of the Tongariro National Park and Mt Ruapehu. Base yourself here for your Ruapehu ski trip, do the Tongariro Crossing, one of the world's best day hikes, rent a bike and cycle the Old Coach Road, or use this cabin to rest and relax.

On the property we have pigs, friendly chickens and cats, so if you like animals this is the place for you!

The space

The bed is king sized, and the lounge has a king single, memory foam sofa bed. All linen, sheets and towels etc is provided. A heater is provided for those chilly winter nights.

The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric frypan, kettle, toaster, teabags, instant coffee, sugar, and whiteware.

There is free unlimited wifi, games, a book swap, and puzzles provided for you to use.

Guest access

The garden is accessible for the cabin and available for you to use. It is worth noting there is a small pond, so young children will need to be watched when in the garden.

The cabin is completely private to you with shower, toilet, bedroom, lounge and your own deck area, and your own separate entrance. The garden is shared with us.

Interaction with guests

We live on site, close to the cabin, so are happy to be around as much or as little as you wish. We have both traveled New Zealand extensively, and are happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions you may have.

Other things to note

Guests are asked to leave the place tidy. I'm happy to put a wash on for you for a small fee.

Lucy's cabin is compact yet functional, and with full glass windows at the living area, really gives us a spacious feel. The space is well heated by their radiator, and the doors separating the living spaces allow us to trap heat at where we hang out in - which saves electricity too. There's currently 3 hens and a piglet on the farm, and at night, we can star-gaze during clearer nights. All in all, it's a great place to stay. For greater convenience, you might want to bring along a tissue box/kitchen towels, and extra plastic bags for rubbish if you want to have one nearer to the bathroom/bedroom. For cooking utensils, bring a microwaveable bowl if you want to cook soup for 2. (We used their cups, which works as well!)

Originally from Norfolk, UK, I moved to New Zealand 3 years ago, and have loved every minute! My other half, Jimmy is from North Wales, and moved to New Zealand around 6 years ago.

My favourite travel destination so far would have to be Laos, or North Thailand. Both of these places are serene and so different culturally. I love cats, and if you're lucky you might get to meet our two; Battlecat and Morrissey.

We have both travelled New Zealand extensively. Jimmy used to be a tour guide throughout NZ, so we're full of recommendations if you want to know anything around New Zealand.

We live right next door to the property and are happy to be as hands on or hands off as you would like!
