Marks place was small but cozy - a very clean, tidy space. The bathroom was tiny and although not a lot of room for your knees, the toilet/bidet was a great experience. The street outside the suite is quiet but a bit of heavy foot-traffic above. The location is almost excellent as the home is nestled between West Broadway and West 4th, two avenues with much to offer, and a 10 minute walk to Jean Beatty Park in Point Grey, but unfortunately a 30 minute walk to Kitsilano with some uphill grade - a bit tough if you have pain or mobility issues. We bought a Compass pass and used transit which was easy enough. Mark was very communicative and we couldn't ask for a better host in that regard - he answered queries within minutes and inquired as to our stay. All in all the stay was pleasant. The primary reason I've given this a 4/5 stars is cost; I stay in the Point Grey/Kitsilano area every 6 weeks and found the cost of this particular space in this particular location to be a bit pricey compared to other more spacious, brighter units nearer Kits Beach which have options for luggage storage (this rental does not) and some toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, etc) which were also missing (just be sure to pack your own). Having said that, the area was busy for the first week back at University with parents visiting and staying and with the Vancouver Fringe festival being held, and so supply & demand was a variable, I am sure. My husband and I ate at 25 restaurants/pubs over our 5 days, took in the Fringe, and attended professional development, and this unit was a decent home base. As well, although this is unlikely a common concern for most and is an expected problem in our lives, my husband is 6'5" and banged his head numerous times. So, if you are tall (ceiling) or wide (toilet), you may feel a bit frustrated. And for those of you who scan the reviews for comment on the quality of the bed: It is a double, soft pillows, firm mattress. We slept well (8/10). I would recommend this unit as long as you are aware of the limitations and are comfortable to adapt. In that case, you are likely to appreciate your stay as we did.
