Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Tucked away in the heart of PEI, Walden Cabin and the Annex offer a secluded woodland escape designed for relaxation, creativity, and deep connection with nature.

Breathe in the fresh forest air as you sip your morning coffee on the screened cedar porch. Wander the private 1km walking trail, soak in the vintage clawfoot tub, or experience the sensual delight of the outdoor shower beneath the trees. At night, drift off under a canopy of stars in the loft’s skylight bedroom.

The space
Our guests often comment about the energy they feel here - it has been a family cabin for a generation. Walden is a writer or creative type's dream, and the perfect place for those who want to explore all of PEI but return to a private haven. This is forest bathing. You will find yourself breathing deeply.

Walden is 20 minutes from Confederation Bridge and Charlottetown, and is minutes to sparkly waters on the north or south shores.

🌿 What Makes Walden Special?
✔ Immersive nature experience – This is forest bathing at its finest. Guests often say they breathe deeper here.
✔ Designed for relaxation & creativity – A dream getaway for writers, artists, and deep thinkers.
✔ Modern comforts in a rustic-chic setting – Premium linens, WiFi, a BBQ, and a fully equipped kitchen.
✔ Perfectly located – 20 minutes to Charlottetown or the Confederation Bridge, and just minutes from both the north and south shores’ stunning beaches.

I love helping guests craft their perfect PEI experience – whether it’s food, hidden gems, or local adventures. Just ask!

Guest access
There are three buildings, all yours during your stay. There are no nearby neighbours!

The main cabin includes queen-bed loft bedroom, 2-pc bathroom, living room and full kitchen, sleep sofa and window bed, and screened porch. Off the kitchen is a BBQ deck and outdoor eating area.

The bath house is a delight -- built around a 1912 clawfoot tub, and including washer/dryer, shower and outdoor shower under a trellis of concord grapes.

The Annex is a separate guest house with living area, queen bed, and coffee station. A 55' tv makes for cozy nights or binge-watching on rainy days.

You will feel at home in nature, secluded in the trees but minutes from beaches and the best of PEI.

Other things to note
A 1km woodland walking path on site helps to calm and restore connection with nature. A beautiful outdoor shower right in the trees is a sensual delight.

My work: Writer, host
For guests, I always: Help travel dreams come true
I used to work in international development, with a focus on poverty and disease prevention in sub-saharan Africa. In 2020 I wrote the Canada's Food Island Cookbook and decided to make PEI home again, after 34 years in Ottawa. I love to travel and used to be a travel writer. Now I'm starting to share this passion with my sons. Life is good.
