Cruising the Comrades, dipping the 'Duzi, Midmar'ing the Mile, Meandering the Midlands, Mandela'ing the Marathon, Royal'ing the Show, Biking the Mountain, or just passing through? Start, or end, (or both) your 'Maritzburg mission, in the quiet Quince Cottage, a renovated stable built in 1897, bordering the KZN National Botanical Garden. Humble, 'shabby-chic', in a beautiful, indigenous, leafy surround.

The space
This is a space in which you can breathe out, at the end of whatever kind of day you've had...

Complementary tea, filter/instant coffee, and milk are provided. DIY breakfast includes fruit, muesli and yoghurt as well as eggs and toast.

The cottage has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and the second bedroom, two single beds. There is ample cupboard space in both. All linen and towels are provided.

The little bathroom has a toilet, basin and a bath with an overhead shower. Guests also have the use of the adjacent annex with a shower and toilet. Soap and toilet paper are provided.

The kitchen has all the basic necessities for cooking. The dining area is open plan to the kitchen and the lounge which has access into the garden through french doors.

There are garden chairs so guests can relax and enjoy the bird life in the private garden. A fire basket and a Weber are available on request for barbecues.

Guest access
Guests have full and exclusive use of the cottage and its own private garden bordering and looking towards the botanical garden. Guests are welcome to use the pool which does not have a fence or a net so caution must be taken with children (however, a net will be placed on request). Swimming towels are available on request. Guests are also welcome to explore our indigenous garden.

Other things to note
We have two friendly dogs and three cats who all may try to move in with you but please feel free to shoo them out.

Parking is off-street, behind automated driveway gates, and under a carport.

The property is next to the Botanical Gardens so despite being 5- 10 minutes from the city center one can feel as if one is in the country.

We are 15 minutes (or within 5.5km) from many schools including Epworth, Maritzburg College and Girl's High, St Johns and Saint Charles College.

My favorite restaurants in the neighborhood include Sagewood cafe, Essence, and Quincy's Cafe and Restaurant.

There is a lovely farmers' market on Saturday mornings at the Botanical gardens where you can get good coffee and pancakes and a large variety of home grown produce.
