Your house in the Clouds! Cae Crwn, “the round field” This detached holiday cottage makes a tranquil retreat. In 9 acres of woodland, gardens with streams and waterfalls, it overlooks the Dee valley with majestic year-round views. A must visit!!!
Cae Crwn, “the round field” After experiencing holiday cottages ourselves we wanted Cae Crwn to be all the good we had gathered, a place that we would love to be and stay ourselves, full of rustic luxury and homely charm.... A home from home! To enjoy, entertain and collect memories. She is the perfect spring, summer, autumn and Christmas retreat! In the spring you have the amazing Daffodil display, the new lambs and the promise of new beginnings.. Summer gives you the best of Wales with long lazy afternoons. Autumn lets you experience the colours and look forward to a cosy fire at the end of the day and the Christmas winter experience, well... we welcome you with the fire burning and we leave 'fizz' or wine and Christmas box under a massive real tree for you. Not even the dog is left out, pooch gets something too!..... And all with that amazing view from your own cosy living room, whatever the time of year you stay! Cae Crwn is a large, cosy, beautiful home from home holiday cottage nestling on an isolated hillside on the border of Snowdonia. We pride ourselves on giving our guests the best experience possible, with the decoration, a welcoming fire, all the personal touches and a moderately stocked kitchen, so if you wish, as soon as you arrive you can make a cup of tea before you even unpack your cars.
Guest have full access to the 9 acres and beyond, just remember to close all gates and keep pooches on leads if they chase other animals. The only areas that are private is the owner 'Studio' accommodation and the Barn store. Other wise feel free to roam.
Interaction with guests
I am always available via phone but may not be around all the time due to work commitments. My accommodation... 'The Studio' detached from the house so even when in residence you will be lucky to see me, unless you wish to.
Other things to note
1. This is Wales so it is a little hilly so for those of you who come from flat places please be advised that Cae Crwn is at the top of a private road which has quite a steep incline, it is advised to drive slowly and keep vehicles in first gear right to the top. I have never had a problem getting any of my vehicles up in 'normal' weather. Snow can cause a problem but not an insurmountable one!
2. Please be aware that we advise that children should be accompanied by adults at all times due to the several bodies of water within the grounds of the property.
3. Dogs can become very excited when they arrival at Cae Crwn, so we ask they be kept on a lead when they first arrive so their reactions can be monitored, as we have pet, farm and various wildlife all around Cae Crwn. It is a good idea to take them into the conservatory for a drink and so they may familiarise themselves with their new environment.
Information and 'The Nitty Gritty'
I must stress that the following is not meant to upset, ostracise or to cast any accusations to any persons due to stay at Cae Crwn it’s the ‘Small Print’. Everything you read in this document has a reason to be there and has been our experiences to date since renting as a holiday Cottage. Please don’t be offended by any of the content in any way shape or form as most of our guests have been a complete delight and a pleasure and this content has not applied in the slightest! We truly hope you enjoy your visit and wish to return again and again!
On arrival Parking –
Please park outside on the tarmac in front of the gate entrance and along the tree line to your right, so not to block the farmer’s access gate; there is enough room for 3 or 4 cars here (Please confirm number of vehicles) Parking within the property boundary is unnecessary and interferes with the shingle too much. No more than 4 cars at any one time allowed due to farmer access.
Opposite the house is ‘The ‘Studio’ this area is strictly private! Please do not walk around this part of the property or allow your children or dogs to do so. Enter the house via the side door, which is actually the front door. You will find pigeon holes on your right with local information, a file manual i.e. How to use the Aga cooker etc and guest book.
Go through to the kitchen and on the large cottage table you will find; the front door key, we endeavour to leave a welcome tray but due to work commitments it is not always possible. There will also be tea, coffee, sugar, salt and black pepper and a selection of herbs, spices, flour and stock cubes, stocked for your convenience.
Time permitting a real fire will be either already built for you or there will be enough wood, coal and fire lights to get you ‘started’. After this we can sometimes supply more wood and coal onsite (stock dependant) at a cost of £9 per log basket and £7 per coal scuttle, which you can order from Gerard and will find in the wood cutting/log pile area right next to the cottage. (Please do not just help yourself! Or attempt to cut or chop any for yourself) However if you prefer you can purchase fuel locally you can buy coal and wood from ‘Corwen Farmers’ at the bottom of the hill on the A5, it is open from Mon to Fri but closes for lunch daily and is closed all weekend. You can also purchase wood/coal etc in Corwen village from various shops over the weekend.
Cae Crwn is a ‘shoeless’ house please, so guests are asked to please leave their outside shoes at the door.
If a baby/small child is in your party – We provide a modern wooden highchair and a travel cot; however please bring your own ‘baby’ bedding.
If dogs are part of your party - We do cater to a degree with a large water bowl, eating bowls, poop bags and poop bin (Galvanised dustbin outside) toys and blankets but please ensure you bring pet beds and bedding with you. Please also make sure your pets are well behaved around the resident animals at Cae Crwn, as if problems occur you will be asked to keep them under control!!! So we suggest that you bring with you a long lead. So please if your dog has the chase instinct please keep them on a lead, as we have had some hens and our peacock killed in the past.
Please DO NOT let your dogs sleep on any of the furniture, go upstairs, get on the beds, go in any of the bedrooms, this is due to health and safety and for hygiene reasons, i.e. some guests are allergic to animals. Please restrict your dogs to the lounge, kitchen, hallway and conservatory and have them sleep in the kitchen or conservatory.
