Western rustic rooms, Acres of forest property with trails and access to National forest . Mountain Biking /cycling right outside the door.Deck for star gazing .Huge trees.Home very cool temp in summer.Lakes nearby with great camping,I can direct you on how to avoid the Jackson Hole crowds .And you do want to be warned that you do need a guide to help you have a pleasant day here in the Yellowstone area..The traffic can be horrible at the height of tourist season .

The space

My home is situated on the leeward side of the "The Bighole Mountains". On the West side of Teton Valley Idaho . A high mountain valley 6200 ft elevation at the valley floor. The best bicycling in America is in the marathon length circle which extends north to Driggs,Idaho and south Back to Victor,Idaho and back to my home. With close proximity to Grande Teton and Yellowstone Park. If you think youre a great cyclist try ascending and descending Teton Pass.. Whew. it can be dangerous because of the speeds and altitude but a great challenge. Descending into the center of the valley from my home opens a vista of the West side of the Grande Teton when looking to the East. The sunrise over the Tetons is amazing. I get to see the changes of all four seasons, The beautiful summers with low humidity and clear vistas of the Teton Mountains and when its 40 below . the crystal fairy world of mountain winter is amazing.. My home is heated by woodstoves and the fireplace but there i electric baseboard heating also in every room. Great skiing here" The Greatest Snow on Earth". Incredible powder at any time of winter . But we have true winters here and I have the best crosscountry skiing right outside of my door.. Want Trout fishing ? Unbelievable ,Lake trout,Brown trout and Cutthroat trout fishing. Sandhill cranes Herons,Ducks ,Geese,Bears ,Elk,Deer, Cougar, Porcupines . every type of mountain animal, in my backyard.. So show up and have fun eating Huckleberry shakes and the best Hamburger in America at The Brakeman Grille in Victor Idaho.Try the Blue cheese and BaconBurgerwith string potato fries or across the street at The Bighole Barbecue, their Famous Brisket sandwich,,, . Whew . Anyway we are here and are having fun charbroiling pork steaks on the barbie while there is still an incredible summer in the trees .

Guest access

Full house access. But I am an artist,,a real artist who makes his living making Jewelry . So sometimes you might witness me working.. See my shop under the heading Teton (EMAIL HIDDEN) . Sterling and gold bracelets of the Tetons..

Interaction with guests

I am always around when there are renters because I have many collectible art pieces.

Other things to note

My home is very quiet and situated on a very quiet dirt road . Sleeping here is like a rock ive been told. The temperature here is very nice in my home because of its (URL HIDDEN) early morning walk in my forest is very nice. there is a barbecue available under the big fir tree in my back yard. The largest lodgepole pine tree in Teton Valley is in my front yard. It is 140 feet high.Other huge subalpine firs and Aspen are all over my property. Many owls and other birds are always present. Also Serviceberry and Hawthorne bushes are everywhere . In the winter Ruffed Grouse frequent my property because of the many berry bushes.

We had a great time over Labor Day Weekend at Bill's place. He was a great host and he and his house have a lot of genuine character that is not the usual ambiance. We liked seeing the west side of the Tetons, but unfortunately for us it was real smokey due to large wild fires in Oregon and Montana. For those who are into cycling we had a great discovery! I highly recommend the Ashton-Tetonia Train To Trail State Park Pathway. It's great! the whole thing is 29+ miles long, but there are several access points. It follows the old original Yellowstone Railroad train bed and crosses three rivers over old historic trestles. It goes between Ashton to Tetonia (Just north of Driggs). The best view is southbound from Ashton going southeast and the Tetons are just gorgeous in your view. We had our tandem with wider tires and it was perfect. It would be a little to soft, of course, for narrow road bike tires, but it's a great ride. We did 12 miles north across Bitch Creek and returned 12 miles back to our car so we missed the two trestles closer to Ashton. We also had a surprise discovery of Cave Falls in a remote corner of Yellowstone, east of Ashton. Great view and worth the trip and also its a trail head for some awesome hiking, though we weren't prepared for that.

I stayed at Bills house for a week. It is a nice location on the outskirts of Victor. You are able to travel anywhere from the location. Bill is a very nice guy and very accommodating. He has a lot of knowledge about the area as he as lived there for a long time. He is always willing to help out or even just have a chat. He has done a lot of cool things so be sure to ask him his life. Also check out his silver jewelry that he makes. He has a lot of cool pieces.

Bill is a renaissance man and his place is decorated as such. Ask him about his time in Hawaii or Massachusetts or Ohio, and don't forget to leave in the morning without coffee and conversation.

Response from William:
Gabe is a very intelligent young guy from the East coast . I think he really enjoyed some of the conversations that blossomed with the other guests over breakfast. The guy from Brooklyn meets the Kansas corn Farmer . It was interesting.

Great option in the area for the price. Pretty basic accommodations, but host is friendly. Make sure you download maps, or are very familiar with your routes as cell signal is sketchy.

Response from William:
You know its hard to provide everything that every one would like My home is situated at the foot of the Bighole mountains . .I provide wifi which can be used to help or augment any cell phone signal .There isnt a nicer location for a b an b. and i do provide a serious breakfast with good coffee and because ive lived here for 25 yrs I know everything about this countryside. My friends can provide you with the best and safest trailrides or campouts or you can camp outside on my very large deck if you want to sleep outside and are afraid of bears. The finest trout fishing in America just one mile away.

Williams place is deep in the woods, with lots of birds and access to a rough but pleasant deck. William was a great host, followed up with directions ( gps didnt work) and recommendations for food. If you Want a rustic, funky and reasonably priced room in the Jackson WY area try this

Im a chill artist and builder .I make jewelry that is inspired by the vistas of the Tetons and outdoors in Sterling Silver. You can see some of my work at my etsy shop under the name "Teton Bracelets" I do lost wax casting and have been a jeweler for over 30 yrs.. I have beautiful soveniers at my home.I really enjoy making breakfast for the people that stay at my home.Eggs, sausage and when in season wild game and trout,, Or watching movies with the folks..I like barbecuing also and playing music with visitors. I have a lot of guitars and a drumset that is available. Its very quiet at my home and I usually introduce myself and let the guests wander on the property or take a hike in the national forest which is 100 yds away from my front door. Some of the best roadbiking in America is on my street . which leads to 26 miles of valley road loop road..Or you can bike to Yellowstone,Grande Teton Park ,Jackson Hole . or West Yellowstone . You wont find a better place to relax. the small town of Victor has the best hamburger place in the USA . and the Brisket sandwich at Bighole Barbecue is to die for. Thursday night in the summer . "music on main " brings national acts to the city park with 4000 people having a great time drinking microbrews or eating Thai food,,Always enjoyable and in the winter tons of snow and close proximity to Grande Targhee ski area.
