We were well-prepared for meeting & liking our hosts because of the great communications before arrival.
The country home that we stayed in is exactly as the hosts described 'rustic' and relaxing with that.
What they can't describe about themselves and their farm (because Kiwi farm-families are not 'tourist-operators' & don't blow their own horns) we can.
Peace, spaciousness, ease, generosity: all these things are woven together in the place & the hosts' care for their guests. We did not expect the food supplies that Amanda left for us, so we were heartily pleased to have local full-cream milk & locally sourced bacon in the fridge on arrival!
Plenty of cut wood for the wood-burning heater, kept us warm in the mid winter weather. Water pressure a bit low for the shower but the bath was welcome & curtains did a good job keeping our heat in.
Our only concerns were the size of the main bed, but Amanda's already noted this, and for smaller wheeled cars, the river stones on the drive in to the property are a bit challenging. Ordinary sized family sedans won't have trouble, 4wd's will suit the many gravel secondary roads that are wonderful to explore around the region.
We will be back!
