Castle View Cabin is your own private retreat in the White Mountains of Northern NH. The cabin is surrounded by forest, with spectacular views of Mt. Madison, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Jefferson. This beautiful 3 room cabin is very private, with no other buildings, roads, or people within view. It is truly a mountain getaway, close to multiple hiking trails. The interior is bright and clean and is all wood. Mountain views from every window.

The space

There is a comfy queen-sized bed in the bedroom. The bedroom has a comfortable reading chair. The living room has two couches. The kitchen has a table and chairs. All rooms have spectacular views of the mountains. You can lie in bed and gaze at the mountains. You can also enjoy the view from the Adirondack chairs on the porch or the hammock in the yard.

The cabin is accessed by a short (330 feet) hiking trail on a gentle incline.
If you have significant mobility issues, we advise you not to rent this cabin.

There is a well appointed dine-in kitchen, with a 2 burner gas stove, pots and pans for cooking, tea kettle, utensils, dishes, etc. We provide coffee, tea, hot cocoa, as well as cooking oil and spray, some spices, etc. There is instant oatmeal and pancake mix for you. Help yourself!

The cabin is a dry cabin and is off the grid.
Cell signal appears to vary by carrier. Verizon has a strong signal, AT&T does not. I have not yet determined the strength of other cell carriers.

As there is no electricity, there is solar power to charge electronics (and we have a charging station set up. Note - the charging station needs to be turned off when not in use or battery will drain and not charge your electronics).

We have rechargeable lights, flashlights, headlamps, and a few candles.

There is no running water in the cabin, but we provide water for drinking, cooking and doing dishes (and these are in the cabin). There is a hose with running water outside where you can refill the water for cooking, bathing and dishes. There is a cooler and we will provide a block of ice.

There are umbrellas and rain ponchos for use if needed.

I have recently installed a shower tent outside that has an on demand propane water heater. The water pressure is not high, but it will get the job done. There are bath towels, washcloths and beach towels in the cabin. I have provided body wash and 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner.

There is free swimming about 2 miles down the road.

There is a composting toilet in an outbuilding. It is not smelly and is good for the environment. The bathroom is quite cute.

The cabin is very private as you can see no roads or other houses and you are surrounded by trees and forest. You have a front row view to the mountains. The cabin is a little less than 1/4 mile away from Rt. 2, so you may hear some intermittent traffic sounds.

I recently put in a comfy hammock!

Please see pictures for additional details.

Guest access

Full 24 hour private access to the whole cabin and everything in it. Well stocked kitchen with dishes, cooking pots and pans, tea kettle, utensils, wine glasses, etc. Help yourself to coffee, tea and other beverages, as well as breakfast items, spices, cooking oils, etc. There is a cooler to keep any food you bring cool. Water for cooking and dishes provided and separate bottled drinking water provided.

Interaction with guests

I live near by at adjacent property. I would like to greet you upon check-in, and show you around if mutually convenient (and if before dark). If you have questions or wish to interact, contact me. I will provide my cell phone number to you upon confirmation of booking.

Other things to note

This cabin is captivating, relaxing, private, unique, and we hope you love it as much as we do.

Everything was amazing. We only spent a night and we were really sad about leaving the cabin the day after. We had more than expected, Ellen thought about everything to make us feel comfortable even if there is no electricity. I highly recommand Ellen's cabin and for sure we will rent it again for a longer stay!

This is a beautiful and amazing place. Exactly as described. Perfect getaway for nature lovers. Ellen puts a lot of effort to make this Airbnb a great value. Our stay was perfect and we were amazed by the amount of commodities available to us. A lot of thinking went into making this Airbnb perfect and it shows (there's even a Exploding Kittens game!). Wow!

My stay at Ellen's beautiful fairy tail cabin was absolutely AMAZING. I could not get over the view and the coziness of the place. To be honest, I was nervous I would get freaked out at night just being so far away from people and being a scaredy-cat in general but I wasn't for even a second. I felt so at home and comfortable. Be sure to stay up late or go outside in the middle of the night to really take in the stars- breathtaking. And waking up to the view of Mt. Jefferson (I believe?) was unreal. One of the best weekends I've had in so long and I can't thank Ellen enough for being such a gracious host!

This little cabin was spectacular! So cozy and quaint and in such a beautiful location. We loved hiking up Mt. Madison and coming home to a quiet and peaceful cabin. If you are willing to sacrifice some small conveniences (having a bathroom inside, etc.) then you will fall in love with this spot just as I and many before me have. Thank you to Ellen who makes staying here as easy as can be.

This is a truly special place - actually we are struggling to find the words to express how lovely this cabin really is. We loved every minute of our stay and really appreciated Ellen's care and thoughtfulness. Great location for exploring the White Mountain State Park. Thoroughly recommended!

I love living amidst the mountains in Northern NH. There is no place I'd rather be. I'm married and have 1 daughter. I work as a primary care Physician Assistant. I'm a musician on my church worship team, which I adore. I love animals and doing various arts and craft projects. My daughter and I are sci-fi geeks.
