Staying in their cozy home is definately a highlight of my trip in ontario. We enjoyed the fireplace and stories of cute animals around from Teresa couple so much. The stars sky we saw right outside from their house was toobeautiful i almost had teared eyes. Teresa couple are very friendly and nice ppl. Teresa turned on heater for us cuz i felt cold and they were suffering so much heat upstairs whole nite . The pancake breakfast was great, felt sorry couldnt finish it but it was really a lot. Bed was super comfortable and all towels were clean and new. Great experience. Im definately gonna xone back again next time.

This beautiful, clean, quiet and wonderful b and b was such a great place to stay in while in Tobermory. Our time here was a bit rushed, but Teresa and Sahand did such a great job accomodating to our schedule and making sure they knew what time we wanted breakfast every morning. It was such a comfortable room and very spacious. The breakfast were fresh, delicious and so thoughtful. Teresa and Sahand made us feel like we were visiting friends. We cannot wait to stay here again next year! Although this B and B is 20 min from Tobermory, I think that was the best part... out of the congestion!

Our stay at the Friendly Owl was a bit of a mixed bag. The rooms were clean and nicely renovated, and Sahand was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious, high quality and nicely presented. The setting is also lovely and pastoral, although you do get some road noise from Highway 6. However, we had several issues during our stay. Communication with Teresa was a problem; on our first day, I tried to contact Teresa (who mixed up our names and generally seemed stressed and flustered) in order to confirm that our rooms were ready, and did not receive a response until almost two hours later (around 4:45), where for the first time she informed our party that the hosts had “dinner plans” that evening, and berated us for our “late check-in” (I should take a moment to note that the Airbnb page advertises a 4pm-10pm check-in). We had to cut short our other activity for the afternoon in order to accommodate this change. We found this to be unreasonable and inflexible, almost as if there was an implicit expectation that we know of the hosts’ plans beforehand. Before 4 o'clock was consideree early check-in and after 4 o'clock was considered late. While nicely renovated, the rooms were very cold on a cool summers day, I can only imagine how cold the room will be in the colder months. The washrooms also have a peculiar feature in that there is an extremely loud machine designed to grind up sewage effluent. It sounds like an airplane landing beside you. The noise from this machine becomes an issue in larger groups, as it makes it impossible to use the washroom in any way at night (including hand-washing) without waking absolutely everyone from their sleep. Finally, I found the price of the stay was noticeably (approx. 30%) higher than comparable properties, both in the immediate area and in similar markets. We paid over $890 for two nights to accommodate six people, almost as much as monthly rent in some cities and certainly comparable to hotels in Tobermory. For this figure I would have expected a little more flexibility and better communication. I think Teresa has her hands full as a new parent and would be better suited to running something a little more hands-off, like a residential tenancy.

We’re very sorry to read of your dissatisfaction. Our House Rules clearly state “Check in is 4pm & check out 10am, however if you require an earlier or later time for either, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.” We contact each guest on the day arrival to confirm check in time. We’ve greeted guests anywhere from 5am to midnight, so suffice to say we really do our best to work with your requests. Your group changed the time of check in 3 times within a couple of hours. We still did our best to rearrange for you. Sorry you felt it was cold. That’s a first for us. Most guests don’t accept the spare blankets offered each visit. If it becomes a common concern, we’ll certainly make adjustments. As we live in rural area, septic systems are used up here where not all urban amenities are available. Our home is on bedrock, so we could not dig for plumbing. We opted for the most common solution in this area, a pump with a garburator meant to protect our septic, which is audible. Your comment is the second we’ve received, where most said it wasn’t a concern, so we stopped informing on it. Our rates are actually closer to 5-7% higher than the average of Lion’s Head, which is south of us. We charge $132 and $141 for our rooms, before taxes. Most rooms in Tobermory can run you over $200/night. If I appeared “stressed and flustered” it was likely due to the lack of respect for our house rules, including the late night inebriated yelling on both evenings. We provided all we could from our home - the space to party more than we generally allow, continual firewood, a grill, , extra cleaning services. We’re sorry it wasn’t what you were looking for, but I think perhaps you didn’t fully inform yourself on the environment prior to booking. As aforementioned, we did not appear to be a suitable match, however, we thought you wish you all the best.
