Polly's place was amazing. The location cannot be beaten, you can walk to everything in about 10 minutes and although you can't really swim from the property, two doors down is the nicest public access dock where you can hang out all day for free, it's beautiful and doesn't get too crowded. The two dogs, Munchy and Pronto are very cute dogs and will also make you feel safe and welcome. The room itself is very spacious and has everything you need to cook or eat, a sitting area, and a large washroom. The bed is comfortable and clean, and the back yard is nice for hanging out in the afternoon sun. The kayak was damaged and there was a metal canoe available to use, but it would've been too hard to paddle out on the days we were staying in Bacalar as it was a bit windy -- on a calm day it could definitely work. Polly's restaurant suggestions are great, we are absolutely in love with La Playita! Polly is a fantastic host, we recommend this place to anyone visiting Bacalar :)

Polly is such a great host. Very welcoming, helpful and sweet. She made sure we had all we needed to make our stay enjoyable and she gave us plenty of advice. She's very knowledgeable about Mexico, its history and culture, and we had a wonderful time sharing our stories with her and her friend Donna. The private room is very clean and spacious, the view on the laguna is amazing! We would definitely love to come back and we highly recommend any traveller to stay at Polly's!

The location of this guest suite is outstanding, in a lushly landscaped waterfront home that faces beautiful Bacalar Lake and stunning sunrises on the lake. The town square, restaurants and other services are just a few blocks away, in a neighbourhood that feels safe and is kept clean (by Mexican standards). The room and private bathroom were fine. We did not try to make full meals but appreciated the mini fridge. Polly and Jim are warm hosts. They were generous with their time and provided lots of information and insights that made our three-night visit more memorable. We joined Jim on his boat to see birds to dawn, and had a great swim with Polly and her friends at Cenote Azul. We also went to two art exhibits in town and enjoyed an annual carnival and parade.

An amazing place to stay in a magical town! Polly and Jim were very gracious hosts. They were super accommodating and communicative, and took great care of us. They are a wealth of knowledge about the area, including the flora and fauna. The room itself is lovely and comfortable; you have everything you need here. The dock and boat access are a real plus! Bacalar itself is not to be missed. Thanks for everything!

Response from Polly:
It was a delight to have you here. And we're always glad when folks take the opportunity to explore the lake and walk around the town. It's not the place to come for the nightlife scene, but we love to share the quiet delights of this magical place. We're so glad that you were comfortable here. And truly will be glad to welcome back.

Polly & Jim were watching for my arrival and warmly welcomed me into their lovely home, right on Laguna Bacalar. The room is as described with everything you might need (& a very comfy bed!) They have a wealth of knowledge about the area and are very involved in the community. Casa Arcos is a little piece of paradise. I might not leave.
