Outside the views are breathtaking. Inside it is rustic and welcoming. We have worked to update many features in the home with fresh walls, coats of paint and queen beds in many of the rooms. The house was built in 1822 and is not winterized, but that isn't an issue during the summer months. Their is an oil stove in the dinning room that we have found Heats the house well if it gets cold. There is indoor plumbing and the water is drinkable but doesn't taste good, you will want to bring your own.

The space
The kitchen has a stove, microwave, toaster oven and fridge. There is a Flat screen tv with a dvd player and a soundbar. I also have it hooked up with a hdmi cord if you have laptop videos. The store has movie rentals up the road if you are interested. The TV is a smart TV so you can log into your netflix account or whatever. Internet access on the island can be spotty and inconsistent, their is 1 service provider and dependability is not their priority. We do pay for the service for our guests but can’t really promise it’s consistency. There is a small charcole BBQ that you can use outdoors as well!

Guest access
Feel free to use whatever space you need. There are games and puzzles upstairs for a rainy day and a working entertainment system for movies that you can rent at the store or even at the public library if you are staying a couple days. Any feedback you can give us on ways we can improve your stay and make it more pleasant would be great. We kindly ask you you take care of our things as you use them and return them in good standing.

Other things to note
This summer we completely redid the bathroom with a new large shower, nice vanity and new toilet. Pictures are not up yet but it is a huge improvement to the house. We were also able to put some more comfortable furniture in the living room and fix some little things around the house such as a back screen door and walkway to make your stay more enjoyable.

IMPORTANT: This is listed under amenities but some people miss it so I thought I would try to put it here also. The water to the house is deep well water and is a little brackish and not good to drink. We buy water while we are there for drinking because of the salty taste that is has to it.

We do pay for WiFi in the home but the service is spotty. Their is only 1 provider on the island and you never know what you are going to get. Some days good some days bad. We apologize if their are issues during your stay but those are out of our control and just come with the territory due to the remoteness of the location. It’s hard to have it all sometimes.

Because the house is not winterized if the weather does not cooperate it can get chilly. June and October could bring potential high 40’s that make it tough on the oil stove to heat the whole house. We have never found the house too cold for our tastes but that is something to consider if you have sensitivities to that. Feel free to message with any questions. We have only had one guest complain about temperatures in the house and that was during an early June visit where spring had been particularly cold and harsh.

We are the last house on the island so cars come down to the point to see the views and turn around from time to time but other than that you have the place pretty much to your self. There are walking trails on the property to a monument for Joshua Slocum that tourist come and walk. We are happy to let everyone enjoy our beautiful property. Hopefully this does not have a negative effect on your stay with us.
