Hello dear visitors !

If you book a stay at our place, you will be stepping into a typical 1930s family apartment where space and light are tuned harmoniously to provide a relaxing and buoyant atmosphere.

That's why we fell in love with this apartment.
We hope you get the same feeling !

We're a family of three that wants to offer tourists from all walks of life the opportunity to stay in a soulful place while we're away.

Trust and respect are all we ask for !

The space

Our apartment is located in a very calm and semi-pedestrian street, just next to a colourful and flowery neighbourhood park where children and parents from the surrounding blocks meet to play and chat in the afternoon, water plants in the collective garden, or empty their compost bins in the garden's compost.

The building we live in is a distinguished 1930s edifice with rare volumes and incredibly well-thought architecture. Walking up the stairs, you will pass through a suspended garden that our building's guardian keeps well groomed and blooming ! Basil, jasmin, roses, tomatoes and strawberries - all provide a nice garden smell to our collective spaces !

Guest access

All parts of the apartment featured in the pictures will be yours to enjoy !

Interaction with guests

As much as we would love to chat and socialize with you, most of the time we rent our space, it means that we're away, and rarely around the corner ! In most instances though, we would like to at least meet to exchange keys and tips about what you can expect from the apartment, the neighbours and the neighbourhood you'll be living in.

Our phone numbers as well as other trusted friends and neighbours' numbers will be available in the apartment should anything urgent arise while you're home.

Other things to note

We have a very amicable and warm relationship to our neighbours, especially those directly neighbour to us. If we can meet before you stay, we could introduce you to them, so you feel perfectly at home and know there's someone nice behind the doors on our floor.

This place is really well located in Belleville. It was clean and comfortable. Be aware that it is obviously a family home and the second room is a child’s room with a small mattress. This wasn’t a big issue for us but it might bother some.

The apartment is in a great location close to the metro and near the city center, which we loved. It's a nice quaint little place, unfortunately though, some of the amenities were not the best, there isn't any shower curtain and it's a bit of a climb up the six flights of stairs, but not too bad if you're used to walking around the city. The kitchen is pretty small, and the equipment is not very reliable, the glass stove top did break when we were attempting to make scrambled eggs on the first day. A few of the lights around the apartment did not work either. The host was willing to work with us on issues like check in and out, though it can be a bit of a challenge with it being a lock and key system. so it was tricky to coordinate a time to meet. Additionally, we were questioned for having a few friends over one morning to meet up and head to the train station, for unknown reasons, which was unexpected and a bit hurtful. Overall it’s an okay place if you're willing to work with host and deal with some of the subpar amenities.

Response from Paul:
Samantha, I don't know if people will have read the review I left on your guest profile, but I encourage them to, so they can understand the precise context of your comments. I will make the effort of limiting myself to comment only on what matters for future guests : 1. kitchen and bathroom are featured on profile photos, so there is no mystery (and no need for a shower curtain either as there are walls on both sides of the bathtub...) 2. the cooking equipment has been perfectly reliable for years for me - and many guests, airbnb and others, using our house - I will allow myself to question your usage of the stove when you broke it (and refused to make any arrangement for reparations). 3. when we came back, all lights were fully functional. Just one might be complicated to use : I would have explained if you had asked, as I have been responsive throughout your stay. 4. Check-out wasn't tricky, you made it tricky : it was set at 12.30 (as it is for any guest booking with us) two weeks before you arrived. You texted me at 1 am (!) the night before to announce you would actually be leaving at 8am. I had to arrange at night, and from abroad (!!), for a friend to wake up and meet you early on a Sunday and she found 7 people in the apartment when the reservation was for 4 people. So no, airbnb isn't a hotel. And yes, guests and host have to communicate clearly prior, during and after the stay, as you have failed to do. But that's what, I believe, makes an airbnb experience interesting, special, and worthwhile. I'm happy if people sharing this view keep booking here !

Paul's apartment is very bright and well furnished and Paul himself is always available in case you need. Plus, we spent our 4-days stay with Bud, which is a lovely cat!!

Paul was very helpful and supportive. The building is a architecture jewel and so the flat. Beautiful energy and decoration, made me feel so much home. I could easily walk to the subway and get to places, safe to walk home late at night. Neighborhood with and interesting mix of cultures. Highly recommended.

Quartier très sympathique, appartement atypique, nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Nous n'avons pas vu Paul mais la gardienne nous a remis les clés, nous facilitant notre arrivé. A recommander fortement !
