A cozy, private one-bedroom getaway with a luxurious king size bed. Just a short stroll to tranquil Bennett Bay for an adventure out on the water or into the woods. With both nature and amenities within minutes by foot from your door, you will be able to relax and enjoy so much of what Mayne Island offers. Seasonally, we offer canoe, kayaks and bikes. We look forward to welcoming you...
We are in a lovely, peaceful location, tucked away at the very end of a quiet street -- with nature and amenities within minutes from our door.
Serene Bennett Bay is ideal for swimming, kayaking and canoeing.
Sun-dappled, moderate walking trails lead to a rocky promontory, perfect for a sunbath on the stones. Arbutus trees love Bennett Bay. The view is spectacular from dawn to dusk. Moonrises are the specialty.
Or.... stay in with a movie and a board game, nap in a hammock or jump on the trampoline. If you don't feel like cooking, ask us to make you one of our delicious home-baked pizzas!
Your private apartment is on the garden level of our home; our family lives above. There is a separate entrance to your suite. You will be provided with towels, linens, soaps and other comforts. Your kitchen is fully-equipped.
If you find that there is something you still need, just ask -- we probably have it to lend to you. Laundry is available by request.
You are welcome to enjoy the hammocks, swings and trampoline on the property when they are available. You will have access to a covered section of the upper house deck with adirondack chairs for reclining and relaxing, watching the deer and listening to the birds. There is a small travel guitar for your enjoyment and, sometimes, a piano keyboard.
The pellet stove is operational October thru April, and requires instructions prior to use. $10 per fill of pellets.
Bikes are available year-round and the canoe and kayaks are available seasonally (*please confirm at time of booking*).
Interaction with guests
We will try our best to welcome you in person and show you around when you arrive. We would be pleased to be of assistance and share what we know about the island, so don't hesitate to let us know if you ever have a question or need help. Otherwise, we'll give you the space and privacy to relax and enjoy your time here.
Other things to note
Our family lives above your guest suite. We have recently renovated and sound insulation is very good, but at times you may hear sounds like water or footsteps.
Please be aware that summer months bring an especially high risk of fire. Open fires are prohibited and cigarettes must be disposed of safely. Please take note of fire danger ratings posted by the fire department and follow the guidelines.
Water is scarce during summer months and all residents and visitors are asked to be extremely mindful of their water usage.
Although we love and welcome children, the suite is not "childproofed" so please be prepared to move breakables and small items to ensure the safety of your young ones during your stay.
At time of booking, provide the full names of all adult guests in your party. Upon check-in, please be prepared to show identification.
Only registered guests are permitted (no visitors).
As the island is very quiet and sound travels easily, please respect residential quiet hours of 11:00pm–7:00am.
Guests who book 30 days or longer will need to sign a standard BC Tenancy Agreement for the length of their stay.
IMPORTANT: Availability of amenities on the property (trampoline, hammocks, swings etc) and access to recreational equipment (kayaks, canoe, bicycles/attachments) is dependent on suitable weather. Use of any amenities and recreational equipment is permitted with the understanding that it is done at the user's own risk. Your agreement to rent these accommodations and your acknowledgment of the "House Rules" means that you and all members of your party acknowledge and accept the above responsibility of risk.
From Dec 21, 2017 - Jan 02, 2018 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
We love both city and rural life and have great pleasure exploring both. For us, traveling is as much about the people we grow to know as it is about the destination. We have been fortunate to have met many kind and generous people on our journeys and we will extend the same respect and warmth to you.
"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love." ~Henry Drummond
